R. Williamson 14 Report post Posted March 10, 2005 If you found a bag of money with $20,000 dollars in it while cleaning a dumpster area and no one was around what would you do with it?
0 crispy crittr 14 Report post Posted March 11, 2005 I wouldn't touch it. It could be a numbers drop. This actually happened (maybe) to a guy I worked with many years ago. When he was about six years old (late 50s), he was going through public trash cans on the streets in his neighborhood (a town in NJ near Philly) looking for bottles to collect the deposit on when he found a bag of money in a trash can. He ran home all excited to show his parents and when they saw the money and found out where he found it, his Dad immediately left with the money and came back without it. When he was a teenager his Dad told him that he was probably seen taking the money and that is why he returned it so quickly. Chuck
0 Big Bill 14 Report post Posted March 12, 2005 If I found a paper bag w/ money in it, first thing I would think is that it was a payoff to a politician, it's just waiting to be picked up by the money runner. In Louisiana, this actually happened. Our illustrious former governor (4 term) Edwin Edwards (Fast Eddie we call him) was taking payoffs from casino owners for granting them permits. Well, the feds got him. Him, his son, & some of his cronies are now doing time in the federal country club pokey. One of the casino owners ratted him out, got total immunity, didn't do one day in the pokey. In actuality, I'd keep my mouth shut & my ears open. If nobody put the word out that it was missing, I'd keep it. Chances are, the money came from some sort of illegal activity.

0 CCPC 26 Report post Posted March 13, 2005 I'd take it, and not worry to much about it either.
0 Jon 533 Report post Posted March 13, 2005 Best idea yet, just hand the bag over to me for safe keeping, in say 25 years from now if there is anything left I will return it to you as by then I will be an old man not in need of it much anymore. If you feel that is not fair I will send you a dividend check once a year IF you send me snail mail and remind me, keep in mind as I age my brain does to and becomes forgetful at times:)
