0 seymore 90 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 Wood is 15 yrs old with cabot stain on it. Well if you are going to re stain it with a diff stain you will want to strip that Cabots. If you are just trying to kill mildew mix some bleach/soap and it should clean up just fine.
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 If it is 15 years old, we would bid to strip it and restain it. If they only want the mildew gone, a percarb with work fine. But after 15 years, they really need to strip it and restain or reseal it. Mind you, I have no photos to go by and this advice is based upon the age of the stain, sight unseen. 0 desi 14 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 What is in a percarbonate? What is the significant difference between perc. and bleach?
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted June 10, 2005 http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/faq.php?faq=new_faq_item Read the above.... One is sodium hypochorite, the other is Di-Sodiumperoxidicarbonate . Sodium hypochorite can harm the wood and break down the lignin if used improperly. Better safe than sorry, we use the percarb.
