bulletproof 14 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I just noticed today that my surface cleaner has stopped spinning. I saw that it was leaving streaks as I was cleaning some concrete. When I turned it over thats when I saw that it had stopped spinning. Other than the swivel what could be the problem
Jhignutt 14 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 Dirt, stones anything can clog the tips just use some torch tips to clean both nozzles out. Best way is to take them out so don't press it back in and have to stop again.
Steve Kiser 14 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I had the same prob. with mine, so I shot some grease into it, gave it a whirl, and fired it back up, have not had the prob since. That happened on the first time I used it.
Don M. 14 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 It seems like mine is slowing down. I guess I will lube it up.
One Tough Pressure 580 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 Check for string, hair, and so on wrapped on the swivel underneath. It may be covered by dirt and not noticed right away. A swivel or "rotary union" is best when it has a grease fitting, but some of the cheaper ones do not. I have been using a Mosmatic sealed carbide version for just under 2 years now. It never needed greasing and worked fine until now. For the price, I have no problem tossing in a new one.
Washaway 64 Report post Posted August 12, 2006 I doubt it's your tips b/c they usually only clog one, which means it will still spin...just not like it was desinged to. If it's not something caught around the swivel (palm frawns, string, etc) then I think it's time to change bearings. Spin the bar and if it makes a grinding noise your water seals gave out and washed out your bearings.
