Paint removal from Deck

Question

Hi all. Have a job to repaint a deck with decking paint. Whats the best method of preparation.....should i pressure wash(hot water or cold?), or just scrape it down with a scraper? How much "water pressure is required to do that prep? Cheers wallydog

Scrape, apply deck cleaner of choice (I use HD-80 to soften edges of flaking areas) neutralize if neccessary, prime with oil/alkyd based primer, one to two topcoats solid latex sprayed with fine coat HVLP (no brushing neccessary).

PITA, no matter how you slice it. Hope you charged accordingly$$$.

Yes sir..... I agree! Everything has a price though :)

We ordinarily will bid it for a strip down and sand out. Not for the fact that we necessarily want to do it by any means....

...but its a customer that will call you back every 2 years for the recoat and in the longrun its easier on us. My goal is to make maintenance easy for customers AND myself. I nor my guys look forward to putting down latex EVER :)
