NewYorkBoraPL 22 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 The rig I am looking to purchase has sparks coming out of the burner exhaust on start up, they stop after about 30 seconds and the owner says it never caused him any problems. What could be the reason for these sparks and would it be an expensive fix?
Russ Johnson 141 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 Sparks like orange glowing embers? Probably just soot flaking off. A can of Soot Remover and a little time ought to straighten it out. Ask him when the last burner tune up took place.
Paul Kassander 26 Report post Posted November 9, 2006 Does it look like cinders? It could be the soot buildup getting knocked loose from the startup when the pressure if the burner lighting is created. Eventually the coil may have to be pulled and cleaned, or you could try a fuel additive to slowly remove soot buildup.
