All woodies get wonked by hard rains. I guess other PW contractors do also. The National Weather Service offers on line radar loops to help you see what is coming or going away. This link is for the NE US but other regions are available.

I have the weather channel radar on my phone now. Very helpful when I'm out in the field. In the past I've called the wife and asked her what the radar looks like but not anymore. I love technology.

Same here. It helps tremendously. Now I am wishing for a larger screen.

I like the "find me" feature. It locates you so you can choose weather updates for that area. Helps when on out-of-state projects.

I used to pay for TWC on my cell. I now have a "SmartPhone" with a larger screen and internet access, so I use the local TV station's looping radar - for free.

I've also got real time weather radar on my phone. I think it was my-cast and it was like $7 and im on AT&T. Very helpful to pull up real time radar anywhere in the country

Here is a link to the "Animated Radar" from a local TV station. It loops like the others, but it also shows movement of individual rain cells - neat stuff. At the bottom of the page are links to select a different city or zip. Again, its free.

Here is another new site that provides some good weather info...and it also provides real-time temps for areas outside the US.

Did some more searching on weatherbonk.com and they even have real time traffic info.

Helps to get to where you are going knowing if there are any delays. May not be 100% accurate but any warning is better than none IMO.
