  3. PWNA Bulletin Board posts

Wouldn't it be wise to have trailers in different parts of the state if fuel is your largest expense each month? I'm a small guy compared to some and I have a trailer 2 1/2 hours away from me.
  4. PWNA Bulletin Board posts

Wow i'm amazed to have come across this from a professional organization. I would like to resign my PWNA membership immediately and would like my money back... Completely Unacceptable!!!

  8. Warning warning

Hey Dan I met you at the CO roundtable. How has business been besides this incident? Don't lose all hope from getting paid. There are some options. If you have a signed agreement with them it will make things a little easier. It's truely a shame that you got burned by her I had a feeling she was this type of person. I know of two other companies she has taken advantage of but not for nearly the amount she has taken you for. When I subcontracted work to them, I paid them before I recieved a dime from the company paying me. Do you think she could have bid the job too low and she may be losing money? She has taken accounts from me by cutting my bid price by half just to get the contract. What a shame...
  9. Downsizing your business for 09??

I'm going to try and not let the countries problem interfere with business. I'm going to get out there and try to sell as if nothing has changed. I will push my business harder and try to increase last year’s profits. I focus on some of the positives. I've heard some buildings are getting washed because the real estate market has plummeted and by doing this it helps the building appraise higher or increases the chances of selling it. Companies are going under. Customers are still in need of our service. They call and hear the number has been disconnected. It’s a perfect time for me to be advertising. I'm adding other services to help keep busy. We will be focusing on Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning. As long as restaurants, fast food, churches, schools etc are still in business and cooking it's the law they clean there kitchen exhaust systems. Property management companies will still have to keep there places clean if they want to keep there tenants happy and future renters wanting to lease there. I just sold a deck job at full price. Customer hired a company last week and they never showed up to do the job and they won't answer the phone now. I gave him my proposal and said that it's more then he wanted to spend and I left. I didn't even offer to do it lower. He called me back this evening and said he want's to get the job scheduled. There still will be customers that would rather pay x amount of dollars and be rest assured the job will be done correctly and on schedule. He knew he could find that by using our company and I believe that's why he called me back. Things are tough right now in our country. It's hit pretty close to rock bottom. Everyone is aware of this and we as a nation are in rebuild mode. This year may not be good but it will get better and I think it will start happening soon.. I think we will see this even this year. It will take a few years to fully recover. Just my thoughts...
  10. The osborne brush can be ran at higher speeds. You need to go slower with the defurring pads. I start out slow with the defurring pads until it wears a little bit and then turn it up a little more. You don't want to turn it up to 5 or 6. Keep it between 2-4 and you should be good. You pretty much just adjust it to whatever your comfortable with.
  11. AC vs. Woodtux

I'm using Bakers Gray Away. I can't justify paying twice as much for Woodrich or WoodTux. Also with our high altitude it even makes WoodTux even more difficult to apply. It's also to difficult to teach the WoodTux learning curve to employees. When prices went up I ordered only a few batches before I decided that It was time to look for another product. Bakers Gray Away looks a whole lot better IMO and I will get a call back sooner for a maintenance coat it's a win win situation. I'm spending less money on products and putting more money in my pocket as well as using a stain that customers are liking the results a whole lot better.
