Yeah and if you want a riot...mention WT.... the bandwagon has sailed. Have you tried AC yet? So far we like what we are seeing. Feel free to dig up any wood threads you might have missed or just resisted the urge to post in up until this point. There are no bad wood diatribes. Beth

The Weather
Beth n Rod replied to James's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We specialize in wood care, but I'm perfectly OK with about 10% of our business being non wood related, especially when weather is uncooperative. We are glad to wash non-wood homes, trex, etc., and it keeps the schedule full, and the guys paid. Beth -
It's looking like it here, but we have just gotten sprinkles. We're washing.

Blackened decks

Bump - this is a very timely thread given the weather this season, and the performance of some finishes post VOC law change on the eastern seaboard. Beth -

Interesting Article on VOC Changes
Beth n Rod replied to Scott Paul's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
"Lilly and James Potter..killed in a car crash?!? It's a scandal!! an outrage!!" Oh, sorry, but I think most will get the point. VOC content is not all created offensively equal. Rod!~ -
Clear western red cedar job
Beth n Rod replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
Masking is NEVER a waste of time. Customers appreciate it, ours expect it, and the time saved on clean up makes it worth it. One gust of wind is all it takes to have to spend an hour scrubbing off the side of a non-masked house. And that deck, will be the one you do in redwood, on very light vinyl! Mask, mask, mask! What Brushes?
Beth n Rod replied to jhutch's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
You have to care for them after each use. Don't let the product cure on the bristles. We have had some of our brushed for many years, and they still perform just fine. Beth -

Water under the bridge... (or gazebo)
Beth n Rod replied to Curb Appeal's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
We would walk away from this job. All you need is some neighbor to call the EPA or your local water authority. Had a lady do that to us once when we were washing condos. She called the water police because she thought we were stealing water from a hydrant. The nice gun toting officer came, checked the nice legal HYDRANT METER GAUGE we had between the hydrant and our supply to read our usage so we could pay for our water, looked at our water diversion to the grass, then split. You never know when someone will show up. Follow the law. Beth -
This is not competition
Beth n Rod replied to RPetry's question in Wood Cleaning & Restoration - Decks, Fences, etc.
It's good to keep photos like that handy....because many people think they can do it as well as you do, regardless of if they are hacks or DIY'ers. Beth :cup: -
