  1. oxalic reclaim

..or it could be others just like you who have the same question and want to know what the answer is. One can never know and it doesn't matter the views one gets but the responses that count. Members have learned to answer only when they are confident they have a good solution. Even then, no one is obligated to answer, remember, this is all voluntary. As far as what ends up in the drains is up to chemical reaction and/or what becomes of the mixture. Take for example, sodium hydroxide and oxalic acid, combined they form a salt and are not longer the reactive components they once were. Now, don't take that in any way as an excuse that it is okay to let that run down a drain or that I would advocate it either. But, it is important that you understand the by-products of your process. Your concern about what enters the drains is a good start to increasing your knowledge about chemicals you will use, the surfaces they will be used on and how to work safely in our environment without causing pollution as a result. If you need further assistance on the chemical aspects, there is a link in the library here on TGS to a chemical reactivity worksheet that will help you to anticipate what will become of a vast library of chemicals that we normally use and their combinations outcome...good bad or indifferent. 2. 2009 business?

As we get farther into the year, we are seeing the hesitancy lessening from consumers. Solid year, but that wet start was horrible. Supposed to rain all week this week here too. Beth

Talk with Larry Hinkley at Delco. They have filter booms and drain dams for this purpose and the answers to your questions. Their ad is at the top of the forum, click it for more information. Rod!~
  4. American Idol - How Did YOU Vote ?

Adam will have fewer contract restrictions since he did not win first place and that may be better for him. He'll make an album no doubt and he'll sing with some big names too. He would be a perfect replacement for Freddie Mercury of Queen - he has the same range. Chris is wonderful too. I love it when he plays an instrument and sings, and he has a very contemporary sound. 5. Hey - happy b-day! (yesterday)

  6. I took a look and from what I could tell is two things: 1. There is still some remnant of sealer in the wood. 2. The black is tannin bleed from the cedar or un-neutralized wood. When you apply a neutralizer, it will work best if the wood is not saturated with water. It can be moist but the acid needs to penetrate deep and dwell a little longer to alleviate the discoloration. At this point, I would suggest re-stripping the roof if it is not to your liking. The other areas I would suggest just sanding the remnant stain once the wood is thoroughly dry. I hope this helps. My apologies that a contractor in this field let you down. It is an egg on the face of this industry when it happens and we are trying so hard to build and sustain a better image of our trade. But as you may understand now, it is easy to get into but the damage once done is hard to reverse. Rod!~
  7. Blown Seal On Cox Reel

Sometimes shavings or other debris can be overlooked. It is rare but not out of the question. I would check your gauge if you have one installed or pick one up and test the unit. Assemble it with QC's so you can put it on just before the gun. It also comes in handy to test tip pressures. Rod!~
  8. Point! With the ends covered it didn't help.... Beth
  9. *Bump* Hey all, thought I would get this back on top to see if there are any new ideas out there. Rod!~

Happy Birthday Alan! Hope you are having a GREAT birthday, and a relaxing weekend! Beth
  14. Was the brightener you applied after you stripped a pure brightener or a combo cleaner/brightener? If it was not just oxalic or citric acid, but said it had a cleaner, your pH might be off, that would cause a darkening. Beth
  15. Anita, Ken's right, strip it again, then once it is dry you will most likely need to touch up sand it, but you will have less product to remove. Be gentle on the cedar. Don't muscle it off. Beth
  16. Anita, You'll be in good hands here. Beth ps the plants are all planted! :)
  17. TWP Cedartone

  20. Blown Seal On Cox Reel

Rick, Good observation there about building up extra high pressure. I would replace the swivel and check your pump to see if any of the check valves are stuck. You will need a 1-1/16" box end wrench to pop the caps off. Sometimes it can be caused by debris or blown seals. Good time to check. Rod!~
  21. American Idol - How Did YOU Vote ?

Yes! Traveled in a band and played in night clubs. Not much other than that but dang was it fun! btw, since you asked I will anticipate the next question...Drummer...12 pc set, double bass, 8 concert toms, snare and 2 floor bass drums. Also, have a Explorer style guitar, Peavy Audition amp and a couple of foot effects. Rod!~
  22. When its time to buy a new machine

You wont need to lug water unless you know you are going to need it. For residential, many homes have low water gpm for conservation reasons which I think is absolutely stupid cause it takes longer to water what you need and not that anyone would use less in the process to accomplish their needs ...but that's drifting off on a tangent so let me get back on topic. If you buy a larger gpm unit you don't really need a huge tank. In our Sprinter van, we have a 150 gal square tank and it is only full when we need it to be or in the case of working at a residence where the flow mathes the output. 4 gpm is quite sufficient for most residential work and the only reason I have an 8 gpm unit is because it is a dual gun machine for 2 guys to work at the same time.
