RAHSCO Cleaning Systems Is Now Delux Cleaning Supply
Beth n Rod posted a topic in Industry News & Events
RAHSCO Cleaning Systems Is Now Delux Cleaning Supply After 37 years as an industry leader, Robert Hinderliter handing the keys over to son Michael After serving almost four decades as a pressure washing industry leader, Robert Hinderliter, President of Rahsco Cleaning Systems, announced his “semi” retirement after selling the company assets to son Michael Hinderliter. Under the new leadership, RAHSCO will become Delux Cleaning Supply. “I’m excited about taking over the company and continuing to move us forward in a way that’s beneficial to the contractor,” said Michael. “We also want to celebrate all that Robert has done over the past 37 years.” Robert founded what is now RAHSCO Cleaning Systems of Fort Worth in April, 1973. That was when he started his mobile power washing company, Mobile Enterprises, which continued to serve the greater Ft. Worth area for 10 years. At its height, Mobile Enterprises employed 26 staff members, had five mobile power wash units, and earned over $1 million in sales. In 1982, Robert turned his attention to equipment distributing, and has since grown RAHSCO Cleaning Systems of Ft. Worth into a national mobile power wash supplier of equipment, parts, chemicals, schools, seminars and training videos. Since that time, Robert has been on the cutting edge of the pressure washing leadership. His endeavors include: Founding two industry trade associations for power wash contract cleaners, the Power Washers of North America (PWNA) in 1992, and the United Association of Mobile Contract Cleaners in (*****) in 2006. Speaking at several trade associations, including the international Window Cleaning Association (IWCA), the International Kitchen Exhaust Cleaning Association (IKECA), the Cleaning Equipment Trade Association (CETA), PWNA and *****. Developing the industry’s first online bulletin board in 1996. Leading the country in environmental education, and helping create the ordinance environmental code for the city of Ft. Worth, which is now on the EPA’a website as a model ordinance for other municipalities. Robert is excited about the new business, and will join the company part-time in sales, technical support and to share his environmental expertise. Michael will serve as the company’s president. As Robert’s son, Michael grew up in the pressure washing industry, working nights and weekends for his dad before starting his own business, Steamaway, in 1985 in order to pay for his school and his first home. “I focused on truck washing because it worked well with my school schedule,” he explained. Michael graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in accounting, but quickly discovered he could actually earn a better living washing trucks. Along with Steamaway, Michael also now owns Facilitec Southwest, a kitchen-exhaust cleaning company. Now, he is adding Delux to his list of companies, and will focus on providing education to the contract cleaner and selling power washing supplies. “I believe that all of my experience in the industry will be a great asset in my new role as a distributor selling back to the contractor. With the education programs that we have, the business information we present, the quality products we offer, Delux will be available to support the contractors so they can be successful,” Michael concluded. “In my opinion, making sure the contractor is successful is what makes us successful. I’m excited to be able to do just that.” ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This was sent to me for posting. We wish Robert a wonderful semi-retirement which he has more than earned, and best of success to Michael in his endeavors! Beth -

There have been round table events in our industry for many years now, but over the last few years they have increased in both frequency and popularity. Most of the time, the events are held on weekends and do not have schedule conflicts with other events. From time to time schedule conflicts will arise which make it difficult for contractors, because they are forced to choose between two events when both of these events might have been beneficial and attended. That's a shame. Both veterans and newbies attend these events, and walk away from them with information, literature, new contacts to network with, new equipment that might have been on sale, and sometimes prizes as well. Topics range from those covering the basic business services like house washing, to more advanced ones like building restoration. Both residential and commercial services are often covered. Additionally, business topic such as sales, marketing, advertising to name a few are covered at these events. The events tend to have a nominal fee, much lower in cost than a typical convention. So check the forums for upcoming events this year, and mark your calendars. These events are worth the time and money to attend them, and here's hoping the rest of the season runs smoothly and without scheduling conflicts. Beth

We get our brushes from ACR too. ACR Products they are wonderful in many applications, not just for truck washing. Beth :sunshine: :cup:

Unfortunately, stucco paint is made to be pigmented and will not give up the stains which will penetrate deep below the surface of the coating. Clean the egg debris off and repaint is the best solution. To keep it from happening again, erect a level 1 force field to repel the incoming offenders. Rod!~

Nice shots! Always fun to see the videos and photos. Beth -
They need to be allowed to dry out for a while (3-6 months) after the vine has been removed. Then you can get the rest off by using a mix of bleach and a butyl and sodium hydroxide based degreaser. Allow to soak for 5-10 minutes and remove with a pressure washer. Repeat as necessary. Rod!~

Cabot's turning black?????

I remember that job. It was a nightmare. But by the time we were done the deck looked great... again, and I don't think the home owner will ever do something like that again without asking our advice. The little quart of Cabot's they bought...well the wife said it was going into the trash before her husband even got home. Beth -
Cabot's turning black?????

Yeah, add some mildewcide to every container before you apply it. This series is responsible for excessive mildew growth and the problems associated with it is the need to completely strip it off and sand the wood to remove any remnants of the product and then reapply with a mildewcide. One specific issue was with a customer who after a couple of weeks of our completion of their Ipe deck decided to sand and stain their white oak deck furniture...while on the deck. The drips and residue that washed off from rain that ensued within a couple of days created a mess of mildew everywhere in the vicinity. They tried to blame our product, jet fuel and our judgment yet they used the 9000 series cabot ATO which did not cure completely, in addition to the multitude of coniferous trees surrounding their deck led to the need to strip it completely and recoat. A/C suffered only as a direct result of the contamination by the 9000 series getting onto the surface of it.. Rod!~ -
I wouldn't do it like that (the drawing), it is a violation of sweepstakes and give-away rules. it specifies that you cannot take money for the purpose of a giveaway and have any arbitrary exclusions or non-specific exclusions. It therefore becomes a form of racketeering. http://contests.about.com/od/sweepstakes101/p/whatarecontests.htm Rod!~

CA-B is a very common pressure treatment as well. In our area, we see a great deal of it. Beth -
Anyone see the example of a martial artist who considers training someone? He points to a glass filled with soda. Then says "this is your glass, it is filled with the impurities of what you have learned", then points to a glass of water, clean and clear and says "this is my glass, it is filled with the purest form of what I know". Then he pours his glass into the soda filled one and a mess is created. His response is that it is impossible to teach him anything until his student rids himself of what he "knows" and allows himself to be filled with the purest knowledge. The other example from martial arts is that training never really ends, it becomes a matter of honing ones skills to keep them sharp, effective and efficient. I have had my share of employees that had potential and those who did not. I hold myself accountable for that cause ultimately I was responsible for their success or failure as an employee determined by my ability to train them. I wasn't always good at it and like doing the job, I found that training is a skill in itself. Patience is the biggest key along with understanding that everyone learns differently and while some will excel in some or all areas, others will not according to their self discipline. Another difficulty I had was to break old habits gained through other jobs and experiences and prevent other bad habits from forming. I found that supervising is not just watching, it is interacting and like driving a car, you must turn the wheel to keep it on the road otherwise it will become uncontrolled and have an accident. Pretty house!!!! Can't wait to see more of this project. It's such a warm fuzzy feeling to see a project like that through from beginning to end. What type of work are you doing? Are you just washing or are there other services involved? Beth

It matters that you can't see a mildew spore with the naked eye.... Beth -
You guys are a trip. It took 20 posts to figure out it was not a good idea to show off your tighty whities in public? I'm going to go get coffee and ponder this. :cup: I will say this....you guys who moderate on multiple forums, if you know how to use controls one place, it should work similarly here. Look for words like MODERATION TOOLS...or THREAD TOOLS.... and also we have had no less that three of you post here.... I think you like to torture me over coffee.... :cup: I can hear your giggles! Beth

At times it is on top, we have seen this with many products. But we have also seen instances ( with the Aussie Oil) where it was IN the finish. Most of the time you can clean it up. We have found that since the VOC laws changed the need for maintenance service has been greater, the longevity of the products has diminished, the need for service comes sooner. Most clients seem to understand it. Beth -

Should pressure washing companies be licensed???
Beth n Rod replied to Henry Bockman's question in Residential Pressure Washing
Sorry but you are mistaken here. Having worked as a casino auditor, accounting supervisor and computer data management, I was privy to insider knowledge of the financial aspects within these casinos and with the NGCB being the states equivalent of the IRS there are stringent requirements to be met in order to comply with the percentages of profits from gambling to be paid to them. While I stated before that what you posted may have been misleading, I don't think it was intentional, just an awareness of behind the scenes you didn't have. It is possible, that since I left, they have restructured the rates allowing the casinos more time with the money in the bank to gain interest before payment is due. There was much talk going on in the board rooms at the time about getting the system changed cause of leaner times which back then they saw coming. Teachers unions are always being problematic but they are barking up the wrong tree. They should be after taxing the police department as they so heavily policing the multitude of school zones and collect so many fines for speeding (2+ mph OTL when I was there) and most zones were 15mph-25mph. Impossible I know, but they are one of the best equipped in the US as law enforcement goes. The police dept. makes a great deal off this revenue generating system and having learned all the other roads to get around town and avoid the strip, and as we both know, it is convoluted with school zones and the kicker is...they are all closed campuses which means once the kids are in school, the zones are unnecessary until school lets out. Last I heard from a friend of mine before he moved out of there was that it was getting ridiculous to get around in vegas. The bus system still sucks. I was part of the accounting team at the stardust to set up an NGCB set of auditing principles for a planned Atlantic city location at the time. They had problems with the zoning and it never went forward. They had just finished the new tower and from what I gleaned recently, they dropped it and built a new one. Go figure. I gotta wonder how the Chinese like it that we have invaded them with casinos and probably send money back here? Glad to hear they finally got rid of the non-gaming cards.- 163 replies
