anduter 14 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Hello, Could you recommend a good stain for teak furniture? I offered Ready Seal, and left few samples. The HO played with them, and found out that even after a week of drying, it still leave marks on paper towel. Should I offer WTW? Did anyone used WTW on teak furniture? Thanks,
0 RPetry 564 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 Andre, If the Ready Seal did not dry within 24 hours, the teak is not prepped and ready for a penetrating stain. The following picture is a teak set that we prepped and stained this year. Sodium percarbonate wood cleaner applied, followed by a low pressure rinse and citric acid brightener. Ready Seal light brown applied to the teak by hand using lambswool pads. The Ready Seal was dry and the furniture ready to be used in about 8 hours.
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted July 24, 2007 In the past we have used Cabot's ATO on teak. Since the VOC changes it doesn't hold up as well from what we have found. We began using Wood Tux on teak, and have found it to be very durable. Beth

0 anduter 14 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Jon, Looks nice! Is it first coating, or you maintain this furniture regularly? I was wondering how long WTW will last in heavy sun/moisture conditions. Thanks,
0 tunatussle 14 Report post Posted September 10, 2007 Why not get teak oil? I do my furniture set each spring at the shore and it lasts all summer. I also use on the boat coaming boards and it lasts about 3 months then scrub across gain with ammonia and reseal. If you want to seal it use Semco teak sealer. The boat deck surface lasts a full season in salt water conditions with lots of fish blood having hit it.
