how hot is too hot?

i wanting to start focusing on house washing. and i have a propane heater. how much heat(temp) do you recomend using and why? also, do you use heat when you rinse or just while applying chemicals?

depends on what you are cleaning.

wood=no

concrete-125-180 degrees

hoods-180+

vinyl siding- <110 degrees

aluminum siding 125-150

brick 125-150

fleets 125-180

hot water is an emulsifier, it helps to break up what is on the surface depending on composition. It aids in rinsing and dries faster on windows and glass for a better result.

With the proper soaps, hot water is not even necessary on most vinyl or aluminum sided houses. It's nice to have the hot water available though.

I've washed houses both ways....hot and cold, and now wash houses exclusively with cold water.

But Beth did not say anything, that was Rod talking. Concrete, I vary between 120° & 200° depending on soil. On kitchen equipment, I run full open at 200°. I do quarry tile quite often as well, and usually run about 125°
