My new ride

Question

I just bought this truck on ebay. Its a beaut with a ton of miles. Even with all these miles the trucks average book value is almost $26,000 because of the 24 valve diesel cummins engine and just about every option that DODGE offers for a truck like this. I won it for $14,600. For $99 bucks I had a 150 point inspection done to it thru ebay and it came out great.Red is also the color of my two other trucks so this will go nice with them.Flying to Michigan Tuesday morning to pick it up.

So what do you think?? Is it a gamble that you would take on buying a truck like this??

Congrads John! Beautiful truck!

Hell, everythings a gamble. Even if you see and drive the truck in person, that doesnt mean it will make it home. I know someone who bought a car and it caught on fire 3 miles from the car lot as he was leaving.

Seems like a great price. Thats less than the wholesale auction price as far as i can tell. In my area of FL it's worth $23,500. Id put it in my local autotrader immediately just to see if i could make a quick 5 or 6 grand+.

Good luck - let us know how it is after you pick it up.

sounds like a great deal!! I am with Meiers, right now you've got 16K in it (around that), and i'd try and make a quick 5-8K. Beats doing 5-8K worth of washing!!!

No flashing red/blue lights and sirens?

Shame shame on you John:)

Nice truck really.

Speaking of trucks did you ever sell your truck with lift or was that Mike Hughs who had one for sale?

I still have the RED bucket truck. That truck is money in the bank. Since my 3 trucks are now RED my father thinks that deep down inside I wish I was a fireman :)

Hey John, if you're flying into Detroit Metro, you're just 20 minutes from my house, and Pontiac is less than an hour. If you read this, give me a call and maybe we can get together for a cold one.

I'm a ford guy and my 7.3 just turned 106K. My dad has a cummins w/ 250K on it, and the reason he got it, is because his buddy has a cummins with about 1.2mil. This guy is an escort (the TRUCK kind) and drives coast to coast all the time. His truck is a 93' stick shift, 2WD. He gets 27mpg on the highway (I assume he only drives about 60mph though)

Here's a tip for you guys--mine is stock on than a small program chip, I wish I could afford a Banks System but I can't--but I improved my mileage by about 2mpg by changing from Rotella 15w40 to the Rotella Synthetic 5w40. My cousin has a Duramax and he is the one that suggested it--had the same results. I didn't believe him, but I tried it, and I swear I had the same results. Costs twice as much, but you can go twice as long between changes as well (I'll do mine at 7,500) Right now, running about 75mph, I get around 17-18mpg, and would probably get 20 if i were going 60mph (my truck is 4wd)

10-4 thats cool! I have a '03 and has Doctor performance module and that gave me 2 mpg. better. Love that chip! It is 90 hp. and it makes that truck git. A module is better than a chip but I have them both.
