PLD 14 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 Someone here mentioned burning some K-1 to remove soot. Is that mixed w/diesel or straight? How much/how long on K-1 is good and how much is too much? If it is ok, why I should not burn $1.99 K-1 kerosene all the time instead of $2.89 off-road diesel? If it's just a setup issue, can I re-tune/re-jet for K-1? squirtgun 122 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 You can burn the K1 all the time.It burns hotter and cleaner. The burner will also run on off road diesel if you can find it in ATL. Just for cleaning 1 tank of K1 should help with the soot.No need to re-tune from what I have been told.
Dave O 15 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 I would run K-1 but noone ever has it here. Even during the winter is hard. Go figure for the kerosene heaters they sell.
Russ Johnson 141 Report post Posted September 1, 2005 You can buy soot remover to add to your fuel. It turns the black soot to white ash, then it blows away. It will not do any good for an already choked coil. That has to be manually cleaned.
