squirtgun 122 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 500 watt halogens work good. You'll need a power supply for them that is capable of running them. We run one light off our skid from time to time, but if we used lights often I would invest ina generator.
bforbis 14 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 The 500 W is what I use. There are inexpensive and take abuse in the back of my truck.
bforbis 14 Report post Posted December 19, 2005 One alternative I forgot to mention. You can get a power converter to fit with your truck battery and it has plugs you can run lights or other things on..I am not too sure of the details. I would think you would have to keep truck running so not to run the battery down, but it is an alternative to generator
One Tough Pressure 580 Report post Posted December 20, 2005 I will have to get a close up of the mounting for my lights, but here is a distant view. http://www.thegrimescene.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2075&d=1118196023 I run one side at a time off the skid, so I get 1000 watts. If I need light to set up and such, I run them off my bigger generator. The pole lights at Hone Depot and such work well, but are not sturdy to travel with on the pole. I plan to get some of those to put in remote areas where the trailer will not fit. I also use a battery powered head light which does the trick pretty well too.
