VanDiesel99 14 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 Does anyone keep these handy to test their burners? I seem to have bad luck as far as burners go, but I have never really tore into one to do any repairs other than changing the fuel nozzle. Is this a handy item to have? How often do ignitors and transformers go bad?
Russ Johnson 141 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 I wouldn't waste my money. If you take a WELL INSULATED screwdriveer, contact one terminal and slide it toward the other, you should get 3/8" - 1/2" crackling blue arc. A short or lazy yellow arc indicate a transformer that is on its way out.

bforbis 14 Report post Posted February 28, 2006 I had one short out after about 9 months from new. Manufacturer replaced it no charge on labor or parts. Other than that, cross my fingers, no other issues in over 800 hours on machine.
One Tough Pressure 580 Report post Posted March 1, 2006 Grainger is selling the France 5 LAY 30 Wayne replacement for less than $20.00 on closeout. If you have a Wayne, check your number and get a back up cheap. I carry an extra one in the toolbox, just incase.
