Mike Stahmer 14 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Here's a couple of decks we did last week. I dont have a before for the larger one but it was nasty. The smaller one is RS light brown/cedar and the large one is RS dark red/cedar. Both are redwood decks in La Jolla, CA.

0 Mike Stahmer 14 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Barry, I have a spray cart with an adjustable pump! Than I spray away! I also use the hurricane brush from Sunbrite when it is windy!
0 Crownroyal 14 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 No rails? dangerous deck.
0 JFife 14 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Mike, that looks awesome!! I like the way you can see the rows of screws standing out. NO WAY that thing is code!! I wouldn't get within 10' of the edge of that deck.
0 newlook 265 Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Mike, Looks great! LaJolla ~ great market down there and it is a very high end area. Whoever built that deck forgot to put the rails up. I would put planter beds and/or something around the perimeter until the rails can be put up. :)
0 Mike Stahmer 14 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 There are rails but they were taken off and repainted while we did the deck! They are black rod iron. It was kind of scary doing the outside edges of that thing!

0 JFife 14 Report post Posted April 2, 2006 Hey Mike, ....What do you mean by "light brown/cedar"......I thought you meant, "light brown on cedar wood" but then at the end you said they are redwood decks. Cannot beat the look of RS light brown on a redwood deck, IMO.
0 Adrian 155 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Nice work Mike. That's a good match to the house as well. I have seen alot of places like that in Laguna. They are just stacked one on top of the other with lap pools and hot tubs sauna's and rich people. Kinda stinks with all the mudslides though. But your job looks Great! Hats off Hands down. West coast Guru!!!
0 Mike Stahmer 14 Report post Posted April 3, 2006 Thanks guys! John, what I meant by that is that I mix 3/4 dark red with 1/4 natural cedar and the same for the brown! It kind of adds a nice tone to it for the decks I do! I add the cedar deck I do!
