shawn_shawn 14 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 I Am Going To Be Purchasing A Hot Box For The Up Coming Winter Months. (8gpm @4000psi) I Have Capabilities To Operate The 12 Volt Hot Box. I Run A Generator To Power A Battery Charger For My Other 12 Volt Equipment. It Is Only 1850watts . Don't Think It Will Work The Electric Hot Box. I Don't Have Room For A Bigger Generator In My Step Van. Is There Much Difference 12volt Hot Box Vs Electric??? (besides Price) Will I Be Sorry With The 12 Volt??? I Currently Run A Rk-43 From Delco Which Has A 12 Volt Burner No Problems Yet??? Will The Hot Box Be Different??? Paul Kassander 26 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 12v systems can be very reliable if you protect them from surges or power spikes. The only real downside that I have run across is the cost of replacement parts, or charging/battery issues. I had problems with power supplies a few years back always burning out. I have never had that problem with the 110v, but then my generators go out from time to time so... it is all about the same.
Chappy 138 Report post Posted September 13, 2006 your generator should work fine running the hot box. I did that until I bought a skid. if you go with 12 volt you just need to make sure you keep the battery charged and an extra battery on hand.
