Deck Guy 14 Report post Posted September 15, 2006 Simple question, no lectures please (because I probably agree with you). I just am looking for a good, and if possible, easy to apply clear sealer, or something with a little amber or honey to it. Share your experiences.
0 Tom DeFrancesco 23 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I am bringing this thread back up front because i have the same question. Customer does not want stain, just sealer. Any suggestions on what to use other than Thompson's or is that brand ok ????
0 seymore 90 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I sell a good Gray Away Clear Tom just as good as the pigmented stains but no pigment.
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Clear as in shiny top coated modified alklyd, or waterbased acrylic... or just plain old kerosene/mineral oil based/penetrating parafinnic oil/preservative blend?....lol :)
0 PressurePros 249 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Would this be too much pigment? Look at the rails on the left. The rail on th right and steps were done five minutes before this pic was taken and sealer hasn't fully penetrated yet. This deck was stained a year ago and still isn't gray. There is no clear that will hold up for more than 6 months. You need a little bit of UV protection.

0 James 625 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 I use Ready Seal clear all the time. Pt wood doesn't turn grey for awhile because of the copper in the treatment.
