0 YVPW 20 Report post Posted April 23, 2007 After watching the 5 seasons of the '24' series on DVD nothing else seems to satisfy me anymore. I can't find anything to compare to them. I've saw quite a few movies lately but nothing that sticks out as being very good. But I don't watch the R rated movies that would probably be pretty good if not for the language and other stuff. So there may be some out there, hope to find a good one some day.
0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Okay... finally watched a couple newer ones. Ben Stiller's A night at the museum Why bother... not as stoopid as Zoolander or funny as Starsky & Hutch. I don't like Will Ferrell either. Meryl Streep & Anne Hathaway in the Devil Wears Prada. Good flick. Pretty girls, good writing, acting is not bad and a story. Only thing missing is ***, violence, and a rock soundtrack. r
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 We don't get out to the theaters as much as we'd like (business days are long) but we do a bit of cable and sometimes rent. Being fans of the Harry Potter series, we are looking forward to the next one this July. *thwip* Go Spidey! We'll be there, got the tickets already. 0 dave tausch 14 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 Have seen a couple of good movies recently on cable with Jennifer Anniston- "Rumor Has It" and "Derailed". It's been out a while but I liked "Sideways". "Cinderella Man" I liked. "Scent of a Woman" is one of my faves-only movie Al Pacino has won an Oscar for, if you can believe that! 0 PressurePros 249 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 When I get to watch movies it usually on DVD. I watched "The Prestige" the other night. Good flick. Another older movie I rented was "Frailty", that rocked.
0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted April 26, 2007 One of our employees was emphatic that we watch 'Children of Men'. Rod!~
0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 Watched dvd Lady in the Water last night... a fairy tale kinda thing w Paul Giamatti, set in a Philly apt complex. it was good... interesting... quite a bit different than most things I've seen. r
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted May 2, 2007 I don't like Will Ferrell either. Whaz the matta man..you don't like Ricky Booby?? You can keep the crepes I'll take a little 'shake'.. and then a little 'bake'. Yea baby... Ricky Bobby rules!! ps. The Lady in the Water was interesting for a fantasy movie....haha. j/k.. luv lot of movies over here except for The Talented Mr. Ripley.. most boring movie of all time..
0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 MMI, Ricky Bobby was just too stoopid.. I like nascar! it was a great pair, though. I liked talented ripley for some of the scenery shots of riviera and stuff. watched The Breakup last night Vince Vaughan & Jennifer Anniston. Not much more than a diversion. Kept waiting for something to happen she's cute for a girl next door but I just can't imagine someone thinks of her as among tops worldwide... r
0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Dave, I like Al Pacino a lot... think he is a quality actor ... example... the difference in his role in the Godfather stuff compared to his role in Dog Day Afternoon . I didn't see scent, but saw Devils advocate. But these are ALL old... B wants NEW! Heck, I still watch Leningrad Cowboys Do America from time to time! r
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 How about Devils Rejects, or Little Miss Sunshine. that be a good pair to watch.. :) Although not purely true to history I hear 300 is very entertaining..
0 PressurePros 249 Report post Posted May 3, 2007 Devil's Rejects and House of 1000 corpses were very suprising. I liked both. Zombine knows how to show point of view. Little Miss Sunshine was a riot.
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 How you got similar taste Ken?.. you know being yer so old and all..lol :) Ok so I had the Children of Men for a week and never watched it. Went and got it again along with the Pursuit of Happiness. Kid talked meout of Balboa for Micky Mouse... Now if I can just curb my TGC addiction!!!
0 PressurePros 249 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Watch it, Malone. Thirty nine isn't that far removed.. at least thats what I like to tell myself. Lest we forget the classic movie .. "Momento" I think everyone has seen that. Also the uncut version of "The Hills Have Eyes" was pleasantly disturbing.
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted May 4, 2007 Ahh the momentos of youth and being one shy of over the hill...Good to hear yer not removed Ken :) On the other hand my one short of over the hill body feels like one of these horror flicks removed something of it...haha. .. It don't move or get out of bed near as fast as it used to. Hence my thoughts turn to two of the greatest classic scifi flicks of all time in Logans Run and Soylent Green.. 0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted May 5, 2007 Yah... Soylent Green is people! Johnny Pneumonic and 12 Monkeys... Logan is just too old! r

0 Tmrrptr 164 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 I obviously have far too much time on my hands. Work is VERY slow. We rent, borrow, buy and get library movies, so they are not necessarily new... Quentin tarantino/robert rodriguez newest grindhouse/planet terror were absolute trash. Q is little more than a warped, twisted deviant and R can at least make films. Not that I won't give a thumbs up for druggie movies... Bug, with ashley judd was intense. Crank with jason statham and amy smart was crazy. and we watch foreign films... In July is a neato interesting flick. Best of this batch is Hacking Democracy. If you LIVE HERE, you should watch it !

0 Tegrey 121 Report post Posted December 21, 2007 We put a theater room in when we rebuit our home. We painted a 8' X 55" screen on the wall. An avg. projector and a DVD-CD player which holds 400. We buy used DVD's from the rental places as we don't have alot of time to go to the movies anyways. The price comes down fast when we pop corn and buy pop for .25 / can. Plus we can bring in beer and make as much noise as we want. We also answer phones if we want & talk loud! LOL LOL
0 Deck Guy 14 Report post Posted January 2, 2008 I thought "The Pursuit of Happiness" sucked. It was like an hour-and-forty-five minutes of "How Crappy Can My Life Get?" followed by five minutes of "I Got the New Job!" I'm with Ken on Frailty. Try "Lonely Hearts" with John Travolta and Salma Hayek from 2006 if you get bored. Newer stuff.."The Departed"...and I'm embarassed to say, "Superbad." 0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted January 3, 2008 Pursuit of Happiness was odd... I liked it, but once was enough. Also saw the Borne Ultimatum - liked it Die hard (latest one) - liked it Beth
0 Chappy 138 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 I just saw 'Beowulf'. Pretty good, but it took a while to get used to the 3D. Will Smiths 'I am Legand' was really good.
