Redwood is one of the most resilient and dimensionally stable decking woods. How old is 'old' and what type of fasteners have been used? 0 Richard 17 Report post Posted May 14, 2007 I have vibrating floor sanders. They weigh 130lbs. Starting with 20 or 36 grit, unless they are fairly new decks, finished with 60 or 80. Like always, you just make sure the nails are reset. Sand papers $6 per sheet. They do an amazing job, save huge time, and impress customers. It's all about the prep.
