big mike 14 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 I like Landa Landa makes pumps?? That's news to me. I've run General, CAT, Udor, and Giant. I like Giant, but they're expensive. Cats are good, but expensive too. Udor and general would be my choice, and General would win because of ease of getting rebuild parts, and I have lots of spare parts.... offduty 25 Report post Posted February 4, 2010 Landa doesn't make pumps. Get Udors and you don't have to worry about parts.
Jerry 24 Report post Posted February 24, 2010 Manufacturers have been bulk-purchasing for lower price for years ..are you sure you want a "bean-counter" special-ordering a pump for you !?? take it from a "long-Term-Low-Cost" specialist.. what you NEED is this.. from whatever manufacturer.. 1. BIG inlets for tank feed.. on tank-feed systems, the bigger inlets ...deliver the water easier, for more reliable seals ! ....The AR XW series has 3/4" inlets, .... ..General TSF and HTF have 'em too, ....but the parts are expensive by comparison ! Udor GC series has 3/4" inlets too, parts should be less than General.. Maybe Russ can answer that Q. 2. parts cost and availability will make you, or break you on a bad day, in front of your best customer. ....nuf said. 3. Beefy Bronze Rods.. aluminun alloy rods DON'T hold up, when the oil gets low, and the oil WILL get low ..when you're not looking. I'm just trying to help here.... it's all straight from the service dept. Jerry McMillen 619-448-8111 800-400-2532 www.PressureWasher.net e-mail me at.. Aquaman 14 Report post Posted March 26, 2013 (edited) I'm a newbie, but I have learned so much from the forums. I have a 4000/7gpm Comet pump. I modified it with dual 1" inlets (1 on each side) (thanks Jerry McMillen) plus plumbed my unloader and EZ start valves back to the tank. Hopefully this will give me longer pump life. john@AEC 37 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 Mine are both UDOR as my local supplier is the importer - so great back-up (they changed to UDOR because the boss was impressed when he visited the factory and the parts are more reasonably priced than some). And as Jerry mentioned LOTS OF WATER - PREFERABLY TWIN FEED. John
Alexy 85 Report post Posted October 8, 2013 (edited) We have 2 cats 2 generals and one AR. They all run fine. Yes the cats cost more to rebuild. They also can be completely rebuilt in about 45 minutes and put back into operation. One general is 6 years old and has no issues the other has a serial number 40 more than the other one and it has been rebuilt 2 times in 6 years so it might just be the luck of the draw. The AR is on a back up machine and only runs 4 or 5 times a year or to use to clean the vans so I have no info on how well it holds up. CNY Hood Cleaning 27 Report post Posted October 9, 2013 We are having more luck with the 2 Generals for sure. Generals just seem to keep on running and running. GP Emperor is my next one for sure. Cats parts are expensive to repair.
