Don M. 14 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 It looks like oil stains. Will just a normal house wash and some hot water take care of this?

0 squirtgun 122 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 It looks like they used WD-40 or the like to lubricate the springs and it dripped like crazy.A very mild degreaser should clean it.
0 Thomas 14 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 We just did a roof where someone did a demo over the garage. I guess he hit his gun and the chem passed over the garage. It took the paint off of the garage, now the guy has to repaint it. I have never messed up a garage door but lemme tell you I am tip toe'ng around them now. This was a standerd metal door. It was painted a lavender color. Just giving you a heads up:) guy lives in my hood and I pass by it everyday and it looks like crap.

0 Don M. 14 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 I guess my best bet is to get a degreaser and do a sample area on it and charge accordingly.
0 Paul Kassander 26 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Try your regular house wash first, like Scott said it looks like wd-40. Start mild ant then work your way up to degreasers, you may get lucky.
0 PressurePros 249 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Are we talking about the black spots or the shadows around them? Looks to me like a homeonwer used some type of solvent or spirits in a spray bottle and tried to remove the black with (obviously) bad results.
0 James 625 Report post Posted September 1, 2006 Certain garage door manufactured materials are terible to remove grease stains from. If it was from the opener or springs it would be in a consistant line. The material behind some coating's is very absorbent. This make's for difficult removal.
