Freedom in America

Question

News item:

Metallica may be a cool name for a heavy metal band, but a Swedish couple are struggling to convince authorities it is also suitable for a baby girl.

Michael and Karolina Tomaro are locked in a court battle with the nation's tax agency, which rejected their application to name their six-month-old child after the legendary rock band.

"It suits her," Karolina Tomaro, 27, said.

_____________________________________________

Goes to show the so called freedoms granted in semi-socialist Sweden.

Thank your lucky stars for America. Frank Zappa (rest his genius soul) named his four children Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Rodan, and Diva. Liberty for all!

Rick you are a ZAPPA fan...Cool. I saw Zappa 3 times and always was great. Saw him in a hockey rink on Cape cod, got so drunk I ended up listening to him from under the stage (Tequila) Then i saw him twice out in Santa Barbara CA. Great concerts. Diana Mo Hum. Zappa is missed, he was a true crazy artist who cared about many things other than just his music

I cant talk about Sweden or USA stuff for another 2 months and 26 days

Jeff,

Yeah, saw Frank with the Mothers at the Atlantic City Pop Festival back in 1969. What many do not realize is how accomplished a musician Zappa was. Tipper Gore tried to ruin him, the self serving *itch.

Chambers Brothers jammed "Time" for about 45 minutes. Everyone was on their feet in a rockin frenzy. What a great 3 days of music.

Made it to Woodstock a few weeks later. Came in from the west and camped about a half mile from the stage. A summer of memories that I'll remember fondly on my death bed.

Check out the lineup. As I'm having a problem uploading images to TGS, I posted them on my web server.

Rick that is awesome.!!

My Brother in-law also went to that legendary Woodstock concert and my Father In-Law went to whats considered the greatest Game in NFL history I think in 56 where the Colts with Johnny Unitis beat the Giants in OT for the NFL Championship. Supposedly that game put the NFL on the map...even though I say the greatest game ever was one of my Hero's Joe Willy Nameth of the Jets predicting and then beating the 19pt favorites the Colts in the 69 Superbowl.

I had just learned to stand. It was shortly after Woodstock that I took my first step...

John,

Yeah, I was 16 and my parents gave me a free rein. 6 of us drove up with a pop up tent trailer from Pa. and decided to take the rural route coming in from the west through country roads. My older sister and her 1st husband got stuck on the NY thruway in traffic and never made it. We drove right in and set up camp!

I've got "Joe's Garage" in my truck CD changer now. I was in first grade during Woodstock.

As for freedom, don't be so sure. Gov't agents could be tapping your phone and listening to every conversation you have. We have it better than most, but liberty and freedom are precious, and can never be taken for granted.

Absolutly love that tune, 45 minutes to cool, and who does WAR what is it good for, absolutly nothing. Another cool tune is Low Rider

Almost as good as some of P Diddy's music:bullistic . How things have changed. cant even find any rock on anymore

White Stripes?

For the music, Atlantic City was better than Woodstock. Smaller venue, better sound, less overall craziness, and no mud.

Funny, I do have a couple of the White Stripes, like them a lot ( My wife buys CD's for me, when I show intrest in a group she knows she needs to get it, she's sick of listening to my OLD stuff, Stones, Zep AC/DC Doors, Hendrix, Areosmith, J Giels, Edgar Winters, Muddy Waters the list goes on

I got a BuckCherry CD that rocks pretty good too. I like music and if its rockin & screamin I like it more, still not the same these days, New real Rock is hard to find

Hey Yaz! (Stephen),

Good to see you here again. I spent nearly two months before Xmas outside of Bangor, Maine, putting in a foundation and starting to frame and sheath a new house for a friend. Cold. Don't complain about Florida, especially with the winter we've had here in NJ. And at the moment, its not over yet.

Missed you since the good old days last year of the Great Bleach Debate. Man that was some kind of fun. Stick around this time, I like you 'cause you laugh at my jokes!

Amen John. If I hear "Gimme Three Steps" or "Stairway to Heaven" one more time...!

There are thousands of songs made over decades of music, and yet they regularly repeat songs. That's just ridiculous. I would bet that someone with some knowledge could go a week at a time without ever playng the same song twice. Unfortunately, the job doesn't pay much (with some exceptions), so we get young people who never listened to this music the first time around. Their only reference to it is the music they've heard on "Classic Rock" stations. And eventually, bands like those fade away.
