MeiersEnterprises 14 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 Anyone know how to strip sealer off of pavers? The pavers are very porous and have a few coats of milky looking old sealer. Any help would be appreciated.

0 MeiersEnterprises 14 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 I have no clue. How could I tell and how would I remove each? Many thanks!
0 MeiersEnterprises 14 Report post Posted January 13, 2009 They said the sealer came from Home Depot if that helps any...
0 Richard 17 Report post Posted January 14, 2009 If it is xylene based, put 100% WHITE cotton down, and spray it with xylene or teluline, which will cause the sealer to lift into and adsorbed by the fabric. Obviously do a test patch in an inconspicuous spot. It can take a few attemps to get all up.
0 Kory 14 Report post Posted January 15, 2009 Yeah what he said... Great post Richard never thought of the cotton before. Jascos Paint remover works sometimes as well
0 Scott Paul 164 Report post Posted January 15, 2009 A Methylene Chloride based stripper will remove failed paver sealers. A common brand name is Dads Stripper. Apply in sections, let dwell, and turbo tip off.
0 MMI Enterprises 289 Report post Posted January 15, 2009 ..meth chloride-aka jasco..aircraft stripper brand found at autobody paint stores has abit more kick though. Want some serious heat?..mop it up with a couple gal of lac thinner in a mop bucket.
0 ACleanerImage 14 Report post Posted January 18, 2009 Apply Dads Stripper by spray or roller (be generous). You can let it sit for awhile. I normally spray stripper on first thing and then I get everything ready to do the job. The time it takes for the tank to fill up and you getting the hoses unrolled should be enough. Use surface cleaner with heater then come back and rinse it down with the wand. You will want to let it dry some so you can see if you missed any. Repeat process as needed. Are you resealing this job?

Mostly off of Pavered Pool Decks and Pavered Drivways etc... Never really was able to give them an answer. This will be helpful. Thanks! :) Edited January 18, 2009 by All Surface

0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted June 10, 2011 Do the ENTIRE paver, not just a spot...Otherwise it will show. You are aiming for a uniform color, and you want to reduce the shadow...... Beth
