The Grime Scene Roundtable

Question

Beth is going to kill me for flubbering my mouth off..but..I GOT A BIG MOUTH!!!!!!!!

Just a thought. Who would be interested in doing a roundtable somewhere in Maryland maybe in the early fall when the leaves look there finest.

If I was running this roundtable it would be only open to anyone who has ever participated on the TGS bb..which means probably a thousand plus members since it is just about the best Powerwashing bb on the net.

If lets say 50 people are interested in going to this roundtable maybe a place could be found that could hold this many and if the price was lets say $20/per person then a $30 charge should be taken so $10 goes to Beth/Rod for all there efforts in keeping this bb at the very top of the game.

This could be an annual Roundtable and probably the first of its kind where its an extension and directly related to a bb.

There could be many goals for having a roundtable like this but the first one that comes to my mind is for the TGS members to meet each other and to forge ahead relationships in this industry that could last many years.

No this is not a push for anytype of ORGANIZATION. This is more like a club that we all belong to which is TGS(The grimes scene).

This club is fueled by its internet base and following. Its a club that is built from its internet founding and belief system which is the bb. This is what seperates this club from all else.

This is once again all just thoughts spewing out of my head. These thoughts get me in hot water at times but anyone who knows me knows this..I have no agenda. My one and only goal is for us all to be connected in this industry so we as a group can elevate the standards....This is why I do believe in Organizations and groups...its tough to swim these waters alone.

So who else would be interested and what are some other idea's that can be shared here???????????????

Nah, I'm bringing the Pump Tech. Measily 60 psi at 1.8 gpm will not cut it with this crowd!

I still think woodies might be better to meet separately. This WRCLA and FPL issue has me very concerned.

Still not sure why those are the best dates. My son is named Jason and His Birthday is October 31st. ( His mom has a sense of humor) His Birthday coupled with a stateside trip would be too much for us....nothings set in stone yet right?

Rick and Ken, do us a favor and if you plan to do that, start a different thread. The Grime Scene Round Table is not a clique get together. It's a networking event open to all, from various aspects of the pressure washing industry. The dates are set, the location IS being voted on, and frankly Ken I do not like your tone or the insinuations. This is a TGS event, and we do have say about when it is going to take place. We're planning it. If you want to help, join the committee.

You may find a number of great woodies at this event. Not everyone who provides great wood care service hangs out online, and many who do, don't post. Heck Rick, until I ran into you at Tom's place and coaxed you back online, you had been scarce as well. ;)

Beth

p.s. My father's Birthday is also on Oct. 31st...so I do understand how that goes...

Whoa, Beth. You are reading way too much into things and you are way off base. Before you go off any further half cocked, I am saying I would like to have a get together of woodies to discuss wood issues. This is not in lieu of a big TGS get together, I would still love to attend that. This just for some local guys to get together, maybe do some fishing and not get overly involved in anything formal. I would love for you and Rod to come to this type of get together as well.

As far as my statement.. C'mon, we pretty much know it is going to end up where you want to have it, when you want to have it and how you want it to go. That is fine too. It is a TGS event and you guys are TGS right?

Your posts sometimes come across as condescending, Beth (see above post starting "Its really quite simple, Ken") I just take it as me reading into things too closely and move on.

Not trying to sound condecending at all. From where I sit your comment sounded quite a bit like you were being unkind to me. Maybe we were both wrong. And c'mon yourself...if it was on the date you wanted and set in stone in the location you wanted, you wouldn't be entertaining the idea of having one of your own. It was not until after there had been discussion of other dates and locations that even came up. Like I said, start your own thread about your gathering so we can stay on topic here - The Grime Scene Round Table. :)

After reading this myself, it was like a tug of war starting and maybe that was a misunderstanding but there wasn't the clarification until Ken came back in his own defense and now it is clear which is fine. We didn't want any conflict especially in terms of what Ken is trying to suggest which it seems many are in favor of that. Cool. But I don't think it would be realistic to hold something as big as this could be at a private residence.

I think we need to confirm how many will at this point plan to attend in order to make the final decisions concerning where easier to accommodate everyone. Please take the time to participate in the poll and post how many joining you and if possible, availability to help in the committee.

There has been a bit of excitement and many contributive suggestions presented so please bear with us as we try to sort it all out and do our best to make it an event for all who attend.

We now return you to the topic of discussion.

Rod!~

I just want to be sure we are on the same page. This is what I meant. Reposted and edited:

----------------------------------------------------------

If I had the perfect event to attend it would be like this (based on having this in Ocean City):

Friday night: Convention style meeting (at a convention center in town) with speakers and vendor tables. Cocktails and buffet style dinner

Saturday: Group events that could include any of the following..fishing trip, day at the beach with games/events, Casino trip

Saturday Night: Informal gathering at our house which can include cocktails and hors d'euvres (sp) while the sun sets over the ocean.

Sunday morning: Goodbye breakfast (at a restaurant) with raffles.. T-shirts, vendor giveaways, door prizes etc.

I have never attended a round table but I would like the first one I am involved in to be a rewarding, informative and fun filled weekend for everyone that has contributed to both TGS growth as well as my own.

I will supply free lodging for the key planners if it is needed. Christine and I will handle the research of itinerary and event planning.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

The vote says beach house style meeting. No, thats not what I was implying. I think we need a formalized event as well as a casual time to network and discuss issues.

I am currently overseeing four businesses as well as house hunting. I didn't really have time to do this but I wanted to give back to TGS. Count me in for wherever it ends up. I apologize for coming off the wrong way. I really did have good intentions.

I am still very very interested in learning from EVERYONE. I kinda figured it would not be at some dudes house but I think the gesture was cool and the possibility for hanging out informally was attractive. I really do not care where it will be more importantly for me is when will it will be. We went from just a suggestion by John to dates set in stone...didn't seem like a whole lot of feedback was communicated regarding dates so I was surprised to see that it was all set. The location is not real important because regardless I will have to fly in and airfares probably wont fluctuate for me that much. ( It's the take off and the fuel they burn in the beginning that makes them say cha ching that'll be a thousand clams...... I want to learn from the Greasers, the Resi's, The woodies, and the dress wearers, I can learn from all of them. SOOOOOO when is this gig and where will it be??????

Ken...

Round tables usually take place on Saturday's for the most part, and have a series of speakers and topics, and several vendors. Let me know if you want to join the TGS Committee to help in planning. Those already on the committee have planned round tables and conventions in the past and so we are pretty comfortable with the proven format. Folks who travel in go to a great deal of expense and generally try to get as much networking and seminar time as possible. Events normally take place the evening before and after...but not the main day of... hope this helps.

There are many chances for fishing from inshore to offshore in the area. The only drawback is the time of year. We catch tuna and billfish up until the end of Sept then catch tuna alone until Nov. There is a shark fishery in the fall as the pelegics migrate south. Inshore we catch flounder up until the end of Oct. and weakfish until the end of Nov. The past few years we have had a sustained striper population in the area and many boats target them in the fall. In winter we catch tog and seabass off the wrecks offshore.

There are boats sailing from the entire area, e-mail if you want specifics.
