sodium Perborate

Question

...anyone know of the usefullness of this chem in regards to wood restoration?? My local chem supplier said it is similar to all characteristics of percarb with more bite?? Thoughts?? Concerns??

OxiClean, which I believe is a trademark name owned by Orange Glo International, is 50 - 70% sodium carbonate, and 30 - 50% sodium percarbonate, according to the MSDS sheet on the OxiClean outdoor powder.

You are correct and I jumped the gun thinking this sounded like something it is not.

"Alkaline solution of Sodium Perborate produces decomposition with liberation of hydrogen peroxide and then oxygen; in the presence of acids hydrogen peroxide is formed. [Merck 11th ed. 1989]"

According to the chemical reactivity sheet, this stuff is air and water reactive, a strong oxidizing agent and is also labeled explosive.

Take what you need from there...
