0 RPetry 564 Report post Posted July 26, 2006 OxiClean, which I believe is a trademark name owned by Orange Glo International, is 50 - 70% sodium carbonate, and 30 - 50% sodium percarbonate, according to the MSDS sheet on the OxiClean outdoor powder. 0 Beth n Rod 1,279 Report post Posted July 27, 2006 Jon, You are correct and I jumped the gun thinking this sounded like something it is not. "Alkaline solution of Sodium Perborate produces decomposition with liberation of hydrogen peroxide and then oxygen; in the presence of acids hydrogen peroxide is formed. [Merck 11th ed. 1989]" According to the chemical reactivity sheet, this stuff is air and water reactive, a strong oxidizing agent and is also labeled explosive. Take what you need from there...
