After listening to opinion after opinion today on the talk radio station (only station we could pick up well on the jobsite) I came home to this photo in my email box.

I think Kerry is a pompous ass...He hasn't even bothered to try to retract, back up & punt...nothing.........and this picture is HILARIOUS!

The only thing that stopped me was that they could not guarantee that I'd go into the nuclear power program. I'd have to take some tests, and that would determine whether I was allowed in or not...and I could not take those until after I had enlisted.

I wasn't "guaranteed" my specialty either, and even after aptitude tests that eliminated 80% of people who thought they wanted to be controllers, another 50% didn't make it through school, and ended up in all sorts of specialties. Many technical specialties had similar failure rates.

Bottom line is that even if you would have gotten the "gaurantee" it isn't one, and you still would have had to complete the program.

I'm not sure what you meant about libertarians and my poke at the Chickenhawks in the White House, but I was really just yanking your chain at their expense. I kid my friends here in much the same way. Don't take anything I say personally.

Oh yea, I realize there are no absolute guarantees, but they couldn't give me any likelihood....It depended on that one test (and of course, being able to handle the training). That's what I wanted to do, and if not, I wasn't interested.

As far as the libertarians, it was just in response to your comment about "toeing the party line". Because many of my views are pretty conservative, and I like GW, people assume I'm a republican. I was just clearing that up. No bad feelings here!

First, let's clarify one thing. I'm not a Republican. Just because I think the democrats are a bunch of lying socialist fools who would run this country into the toilet post haste does not make me a Republican.

No, Bill Clinton isn't running for anything. That quote was from 1998 when he was Commander in Chief. He believed that Saddam was in possession of WMD's (and didn't do squat about it). And he believed it in 2003 when we invaded. As did the *majority* of the hypocrites in the Democratic leadership that are now running around screaming that we entered under "false pretenses".

Finally, the repubs do have there share of liars in the clubhouse. But that I know of, none of them have:

a) drowned an innocent girl

b) screwed interns on the presidents desk.

Near as I can tell, Bill clinton was a regular guy until he became a politician. GW bush might have been born into a wealthy family, but if you look at his history, he was a pretty regular guy,(for which the media and dems give him grief over.) then he became a politician. RR was a regular guy. Jimmy Carter was a penut farmer. Notice the trend? Politics changes people.

Bush was the governor of a Democrat run state. Dem top to bottom. He worked with the Dems and got things done. He has worked extensively with the Dems in the senate while pres. He let Ted Kennedy virtually write the Education Bill. Conservatives like myself think he works with/gives in to the Dems way to much.
