  1. Roof damage from grease run-off is not an uncommon problem among restaurants. In fact, grease regularly trickles out of a drainage spout or leaks from gaps of the roof top exhaust fan. If there is no protection in place around the exhaust fan, grease will leak to the roof and cause expensive and hazardous damage. The small investment in grease containment maintenance services by a professional hood cleaner will protect your roof top from thousands of dollars worth of damage and keep you in compliance with fire codes.

Roof top grease is a significant concern for restaurant owners for various reasons. When grease builds up and sits on your roof, it can cause cracks, swelling, blistering, and deterioration. The roof may even become unsafe for walking by hood cleaning and maintenance workers. A grease damaged roof may be a violation of insurance requirements, OSHA standards, and fire codes.

One of the worst consequences of grease roof damage is a significant and increased fire hazard. Grease is the most common fuel of restaurant fires. Restaurant fires often start in the kitchen while cooking and get diverted into the hood/vent system. If that system has excess grease build up as well, it becomes a vehicle for the fire to travel to the roof top instead of providing some sort of fire containment. If grease has spilled on the roof, the fire will travel on the roof and do serious damage putting the rest of the building at risk. Maintaining your grease containment system is an important part of fire damage control in the unfortunate event of a kitchen fire.

Preventing grease damage requires regular maintenance that can conveniently be combined with your exhaust hood cleaning schedule. Your hood cleaning service provider should be knowledgeable and trained to assess your grease containment needs and make suitable recommendations for your system. Your hood cleaner can also install a grease containment system and regularly replace the grease absorbent pads that sit in the grease containment tray. The minimal investment in this important fire safety and roof protection service will keep your roof in good condition and prevent excess damage in the event of a grease fire.

If you are unsure of your roof top condition or do not receive regular hood cleaning services or are not confident in the quality of your current hood cleaner‘s work, then you will want to have your roof and exhaust system inspected immediately by a professional, certified hood cleaner. A professional hood cleaner will not only clean your exhaust system, but he will also inspect, install and maintain your grease containment system. He may also be able to remove the grease that has already come in contact with your roof with specialized, environmentally-friendly chemicals that can be used to dissolve the grease.

For restaurants, schools, hospitals, gas stations or commercial kitchens located in South Carolina, North Carolina, or southern Virginia, Grease Pro, LLC hood cleaning service can inspect and service your kitchen exhaust system and grease containment system. We are certified, licensed, and insured. Your safety and satisfaction are our highest priorities. We are hood cleaning Charlotte NC.

We Always hand scrub the outside of the gutters and downspouts during a house wash. We perform a lot of gutter cleaning in the early spring and fall' date=' and never scrub the inside. We remove by hand the debris and clear out blockages. When possible, we also hydro-test downspouts. A penny test or a rock test is effective as well if the customer's garden hose isn't long enough to hydro-test.

Here is a recent video we produced on our gutter cleaning and gutter guard system. Let us know what you think!

Hello, Has anybody ever had problems with their surface cleaners leaving stripes in the concrete. I have a M-T-M 28 inch cleaner and a 20 inch Whirlaway and both leave the same lines. any suggestions or experience with this problem would be great. Thanks, Ray

I agree with the others in regards to walking more slowly. If the sidewalks have been dirty for quite some time, you might have to overlap while cleaning

  6. Using pressure to remove unsightly surface stains, mold, and mildew from your siding or roof is a thing of the past. Today with the advanced technology of cleaning equipment and cleaners, pressure is no longer required. Quality detergents have been formulated to a perfect ratio that gives them the capability to take the place of pressure. These detergents are not harmful to your plants or animals. We call this method a soft washing method. All that is required is for us to apply the detergent, allow it to dwell then come back and rinse it off. We use very little pressure (a little more than what comes out of your water hose). Pressure to siding can cause water to be shoved behind the siding and remain standing. This will cause mold and mildew to accumulate and you are left with a bigger problem than you had in the first place. The use of pressure can also completely damage your siding and once again you have a bigger bill than you bargained for. The same thing can happen with roofs. Water gets under the shingles and is left hiding in the warm wet darkness which is a perfect atmosphere for bacteria to grow. Your shingles can also be completely torn away from your roof because normally shingles are not made to handle so much pressure.Soft washing is the way to go when it comes to your home. There is no risk involved and you will be left 100% satisfied when you see the results of your home. Professional Pressure Washing in Louisville KY provided by Simply Glass Exterior Solutions

If I use a mix that is 60 to 70% SH won't that be a major pain to keep the stuff from running off the roof and killing any plant life around including grass?

  9. Here it goes, I can tell you, that I have worked in the "Kitchen Exhaust" cleaning business since I was a teenager, starting with my uncle's company which was started in 1966, so needless to say I have been around, I have done every job there is in cleaning from the floor to the roof, was always looking for ways to make it easier, how I hated them old days with steel wool, rags, chemical and don't forget the Sheila shine, as my uncle would tell me, that is the most important part of the job.

So needles to say, I was so happy when I came up with the idea in 1987 to start using a pressure washer, it was hard to convince my uncle to change, as he was set in his ways, but convinced him, that was the way to go, also to had to persuade our customers whew them where the days.

As it is the norm today to use pressure washers, so which way to go, which one to use, I always thought the bigger the better, and wanted to impress our customers, we were sophisticated, but it doesn't mean a thing, if you don't do the job right, in some cases, you will need a hot powered pressure washer, but the majority of the time, you will be able to use the electric pressure washer, I am talking about a custom made one, which will cost you about 1,500.00 to 1,800.00, capable of 2,500 PSI, and can run 200 degree water thru it.

Much easier to carry and move, think of the space you will save, and the gas on top of that, just so many benefits to using a electric pressure washer, I could list them all, but if you are in the business, you will understand me.

But once again I will reiterate, no matter if you do by hand or pressure washer, you must do the job right to the best of your ability, no short cuts.
