    Sorry to hear Adrian.
Losing ones parent is never easy and there is always so much left undone they leave behind.

I got you on the old bones. this job takes a toll on them.

Sending you my best and hoping you find the time to heal and the energy to go on.

    It's been a while folks.
I had to bury my grand daughter. ( really tough gig I swear)
8 surgeries so far on the old bones.
Still plugging away at it though not as gung ho.
Just getting through the day sometimes is a chore in itself.
Glad to see some regulars as well as new names here.

I also see that not much has changed in the pw world.
Same people doing the same ego driven stuff ( peel the onion guys c'mon)
Same bashing same executions of character ( B.S. in my eyes )
We all bleed red...... no exceptions.

Various things are happening around the globe to make one want to hide his head in the sand.
Hard to keep a positive outlook sometimes....whatever.
While ALL my guitars gently weep.
Just hope you all are fighting the good fight and not with each other.

Yes, and it is probably already on your shelf at home.
    Sodium Hypochlorite = Bleach
Surfactant= dish soap or the like.
Dihydrogen Monoxide comes out of your faucet.
The broom and bucket is probably in your pantry or closet.

Your Sodium Hypochlorite is  probably 6% in strength. So beef it up if you don't see instant results.
Contractors generally use 12% strength which is found at chem supply or pool supply.
Best of luck show some pics.

    Steven,
What is the base of your stain? Is it an oil? Is it acrylic? What is it?
If it is acrylic it will laught at that mix at that concentration without an added booster.
If it is oil it would need to be a fairly weak oil ( less drying oils in the formula) to be removed with that concentration, and it's age and exposure factor into it too.
Post a pic and tell us more about the coating.
    Beth

p.s. yes, I would boost the hydroxide first.....

The Joint Coatings Committee is basically an informal type committee right now that works strictly on a volunteer and only when needed basis with the Forest Products Laboratory. Many of the standards that were put in place were done when Sam Williams was in charge and has since retired. He is an amazing man who knows more about wood and coatings than anyone I have ever met. As Beth alluded to there have been a lot of changes over the years and some of these need updating as well as some new ones created. The reason the committee was disbanded was due to cutbacks in the government, The Forest Products Laboratory is part of the Department of Agriculture and their budgets were cut like everyone else's during the recession. There are some projects being worked on but they are slow in coming. Many of the large manufacturers have replicated test farms at their facilities and continue to perform R & D on products but that is truly where a lot of todays research is coming from, individual manufacturer's. If you have specific question please feel free to PM me as well.

15.29 megabytes of information hell ya.  the forest labs contradict some stuff people say on these boards. Like mill glaze, they say they tried to duplicate it but never have been able to. also they say to stain your deck after the wood is under 20% they say you don't have to wait. hmmmm. there is a ton of info on there thanks Beth

Ok how do I paste something on here, if this sounds like a foolish question I just cant figure it out on this new setup.

Seems almost everyday in Houston this August, it's 90-95 degrees before 10 or 11 am.
The heat has actually slowed and stopped some projects. The flash adhesion is rearing its ugly head and causing  double the amount of stain in some case.
However I really feel for you northern folks getting cold so early. Just doesn't seem right . "facepalm".
Glad to see a few familiar faces. Hang in there everyone.

Yes, May and April was cold ,very windy and rainy . I just stopped 4 ipe jobs not worth the trouble . Now in August ,I already had jobs not drying more because of the condensation forming in the morning . I ran heaters and fans to increase drying which did help but not worth the extra time and expense .
It takes a certain personality to stay in the wood business. In April I had enough wood work for 5 employes by May I was down to 3 includes me and stayed there . Good thing I do a lot of washing . I have a load of wood work to do and it keeps coming but I have never had an august where you have to wait till 10/ 11:00 to oil . I have a garappa sunroom floor to do and yesterday after 3 days it was still damp( ran heaters to dry).
Enough complaining ......sometimes it's not worth being an expert though ?

    HD-80 + 633ADD will take it off.

You can get the HD-80 from The Sealer Store
and the 633-ADD from ACR Products

    Mix HD-80 at 6-8oz/gal + 4-6oz/gal of 633ADD
Apply and allow to dwell. Keep it wet and re-apply as needed to keep the product working.

    1. How much is material cost and how much is labor cost?

    2. Give me the material list. I will get the material and that will save you time.

    3. What is that chemical and where do you get it?

The answer is "Thank you for your interest in my company helping you with your service needs.  I do not think we are a good match for your needs.  Good by."

Ryan, if it is your state of permanent residence you won't need an resident agent since your office is there. The purpose of the resident agent is to basically be a mailing address. My guess is you will either need the B or C class license.

    Yes.
Any type of home improvement work that falls under their classification as such.

If you are only doing this from out of state, you will need to acquire a resident agent as well.

It looks from your bio that you are in New York. Why travel that far for a deck?
