Now I have seen EVERYTHING. Check THIS service out!

Question

Rod passed a truck on the road today for a new service industry niche and could not stop laughing. They are selling gift certificates, and aiming them at holidays like...valentines day and mother's day...and the laugh factor alone should make them sell. In fact they are even offering franchise opportunities and I'll just bet they do well. Are you ready for this?

They pick up dog poop. That's it. No kidding. Check it out.

I'm still laughing and I'll bet they are too...all the way to the bank!

Good question, and good question. I would think they have to dispose of it properly. Really makes you think about recapturing huh...

There is even an association for them.

But really, what man in his right mind would get the wife or girlfriend, much less mom on Mother's day a gift certificate to have feces removed from her yard. So thoughtful...so personal...and it says soooo much...

But it sure is funny, and one heck of a niche. And there must be a market, heck, they were working in our neighborhood.

They even give gift certificates and specify the events that call for a gift certificate. One of them is for (ready for this one?) Valentines Day!

:rotfl:

Could you imagine giving your loved one 'a super dooper pooper scooper certificate' on Valentines Day? Here honey, heres a gift certificate so you dont have to scoop the poop this month! :fido2:

They even leave a Big yellow door knob hanger letting you know (and everyone else in the neighborhood) that they came to scoop the poop!:fido:

That is funny. I guess we've all sunk to potty humor. So if you would call your self an expert in the field of dog poop removal, what would it be?? Doodyologist?

If you think of it hand have a digital camera with you, please snap a pic. This is a great example of marketing to a very specific niche, it is well targeted (no pun intended) and it must be working.

Amazing...I'm sure some of the success is due to the humor.

Tony, they have an association for them too... APAWS....Association of Pet Waste Removal Specialists.

Actually, I was tossing around that idea of starting a pooper scooper business a couple of years ago before I got into the pressure washing biz. They actually have bbs forums on scooping poop. I considered that business idea because there was no one in the Jacksonville area that offered that service but I was sure there would be a demand for it if I marketed the idea correctly. since then, there have been a few pooper scooper business that have popped up. The reason why I never went through with idea was because I did'nt like the idea that I would have to have a huge client base and travel to 25 homes a day to make a decent living where as with pressure washing I can do one big job a day and make the same amount of money.

some advantages to that business over pressure cleaning are: a very low startup cost; less liability( let's face it, Its hard to mess up picking up poop); easier to recruit and train new poop technicans. Some companies also sell pet supplies as an added service, pet food and supplies delivered to your front door.

This is hilarious - we have three companies in North Carolina - Get these names:

"Scooperman"

"Charlotte Poop van Scoop"

"ScooperDude"

Can you actually imagine picking up sh*t all day. Gross.

If you blast dog poop from your back yard with an extension wand and zero degree tip, you might be a Pressure Washer......errrr, or would that be Pooper Washer???

If you can find a service that other can't OR don't want to do then your in the money.

We all do a service that otheres don't want to do and make a good living at it. It graduation time we run an ad for pre-open house cleaning. Interior/exterior, lawn service and triming. ( I'll be adding poop pick up next year ) thanks for the insight. Mo Money, Mo Money, Mo Money.
