I can speak personally on foreclosures but I’ve never been through one myself. A very good friend kept refinancing his house to buy things he really didn’t need. I’m not going to tell anyone how to live but really, who needs three new Harley Davisons when the house is in dire need of repairs. He got so far in the hole and couldn’t pay the bills. Now he has no house and no motorcycles.

Person across the street lost his house. Even when he and his wife were having trouble with the bills they still went out and bought a new Jeep and a Lexus. What’s more important, what you drive or having a home?

I’ve always drove 100 dollar beaters as daily drivers up until last year. Bought a new SUV for the wife and I took her Altima the day after she drove it into the back of a cube van. Drove cheap cars and paid heavy on my house loan. I’m down to just 6 thousand on a 12 year old house. If I can do it I’m sure anyone can.

Do you think the government should bail out these people about to lose their home? I don’t. People have to start taking responsibility for their own actions and not rely on the government. Buying a new house is a huge responsibility. Why on Earth would someone buy new cars or motorcycles when they can’t pay rent?

Nope you sure did have some stupid neighbors, but why are we bailing out the banks that gave these bad loans. Stupid people and greedy banks are a bad mix. Thats why regulation is needed

My business has new vehicles I still drive a 1998 Marquis, I'm not real smart, but I sure in hell am not stupid.

Banks & mortgage companies preyed on the stupid uneducated and greedy people, it will happen every time unless the government makes rules (regulations) to stop or control the greed or injustices. Deregulations has hurt us, thats why I am looking forward to go old SOCIALIST DEMOCRATIC party getting in the Whitehorse and clamping down on some of the BS Bush & Chenney have let ride or contributed to

Jeff...does competition usually drive prices up or down?

If the gov't regulates prices that means that they limit profit which means that people will not compete for business.

Ant, we get Offers all the time from customers offering us a certain price for roof cleaning services.

We have the option to say yes or no.

I clean roofs, BIG Ones.

I see that Many Doctors are getting RICH off of sick people who can't shop around.

NOW, the doctors will be forced to take it or leave it.

If the greedy ones don't take it, others will.

It works in other countries, why not here ?

In Florida, I meet a LOT of Europeans with health care.

Many are quite happy.

I HATE Big Govt.

But, since I gotta pay taxes anyway, why not get something in return ?

Why not give it a TRY ?

If it dont work, we can summon George W off the ranch again ?

I know of a Doctor..actually an affiliate if doctors that offer a "Gold" or Platinum membership service to their customers. They do house calls, they are on call 24 hours a day they take care of their customers. Do people make it a priority to have this service instead of having 4 jet skis, motorcycles, huge car payments etc? Yeah, some do. Some would rather not. That's ok too.

I don't know of too many Americans going overseas to get the best in health care. I do know of a lot of stories of people coming here for the best healthcare. Chris you might be liberal on a lot of things, but I think if you thought about this a little more, you would probably change your mind. Should your taxes go towards paying for health care for Bill Gates? How about Oprah?

Do you really think that Oprah is going to go through the bureaucracy to get a life threatening surgery she desperately needs? It all sounds good that everybody should have healthcare, but in practicality it makes no sense. I would be pissed to have to pay for Oprah's healthcare. Why doesn't Oprah just pay for everybody's healthcare? I mean, she has a lot of money, she doesn't deserve all that money, there are people that work just as hard as her right?

As much as I would hate it, I would defend Oprah's right to do with her money whatever she sees fit.

Instead of saying "we gotta pay taxes anyway" lets say.... Lower our taxes substantially so I can get my own health insurance. It's not their money, it's our money.

I don't think Nobama is a landslide at all, there are too many people that don't want the gov't hand's in their pockets to let it happen so easily. I think Palin as the pick for VP will fire up the conservatives like myself and get them out there to vote.

I SEE you have never been around many Black People Anthony ?

They STICK together, not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that.

They WILL turn out, in DROVES for their own.

And, the polls do NOT count them because it is WHITE people doing the polling, and many are SCARED to go asking questions in Black Areas.

Sure, there IS telephone Polling, but I think the Black vote is underestimated because before NOW, many Blacks thought this is the White Mans Country anyway.

But NOW that one of their own is running with a great chance to win, they gonna show up like they would at a free BBQ.

Obama man, get used to it.

Maybe out WEST McCain will do well, but by the TIME you guys vote, election will be decided already.

ALL the blacks in California, and the Homies are ALL for Obama.

Oregon is democratic, washington is teetering, so WHAT have the republicans GOT ?

Arizona and Alaska ?

Colorado will go democrat, Kansas will stay Republican, but Obama will carry the Powerful East, and he is FROM Chicago....

Obama was NOT my choice, but I gotta face facts, he IS gonna win.

Can't buy my Nexium over the counter, I have very bad acid reflux and to the pint where I am at a higher risk for cancer due to the reflux going up into my esophagus. I know what it cost I was told by the pharmacist

Dude, I'm telling you, it is the SAME STUFF. Just a different dosage. I have very bad acid reflux also...I use the over the counter stuff, and just take two at a time rather than the one Nexium. It's the exact same medicine.

Then how does anything get fixed, so get rid of regulations on EVERYTHING is that your answer? Just let everything go without regulations ya that will work real well. Might as well go back to the days of Kings & Queens tax people and give them nothing

So its alright with you if we have 50, 60, 100, 150 million with very little or no health care, thats just stupid, because they will just go to the emergency rooms and it will cost triple and we will have to pay anyway

Regulation is needed greed will always take over sooner or later

More and more cant afford it something has to be done. I hope someday you dont have a crisis and can't work and cant get health care. Fix the abuses of people and the companies and make it more affordable or free to all. Is Canada wrong, they have a plan the citizens like

Maybe people need to live in smaller houses and forget the car payments, and then they can afford health care.

I hope I don't find myself in that situation either.

Should we have regulation in the pressurewashing industry so that greed doesn't take over? Shouldn't EVERYONE be able to afford a housewash?

Ours is the only industrialized nation without coverage for all its citizens. We spend twice as much per capita than any other nation for health care – 17% of our GNP. That’s 90% more than Germany, France or Canada. It’s not because we are paying a premium for quality, because the World Health Organization ranks our health care 37th between Slovenia and Costa Rico. The overemphasis on corporate PROFIT has run health care into the ground! Assuming these facts are correct CAN YOU GUYS ADMIT SOMETHING STINKS HERE????

30 FRICKIN PERCENT of the cost of insurance goes to Washington lobbyists, salaries for CEO’s (William Maguire CEO United Healthcare $124,000,000 2005 compensation) , corporate jets, advertising campaigns and gold faucets in the ****ter. This is a MORAL failure putting profit before healing. Even people with coverage are now getting letters from their insurance carrier asking for confirmation of a procedure with a dated response time and if you don’t confirm in the allotted time your procedure may not be paid for. How many old people may not understand this and disregard the letter, or how many will think it junk mail and not even open such a letter. And currently this little loophole is perfectly legal. Don’t you guys think someone should step in here? How about the dreaded government!

Pharmaceutical and insurance companies have spent 455,000,000 dollars in lobbying in 07. You think they do that so that can continue to give you the best care they can? No – they want something in return—MORE PROFIT. Of every 100$ that flows through corporate insurance and HMO’s $10 to $34 dollars sticks to their fingers. For every $100 dollars that passes through government administered Medicare programs $2 to $3 is spent on administration! Key word – ADMINISTRATION, not your socialist government runs everything program the insurance company’s have brainwashed you guys into regurgitating like some robot.

So what it comes down to is greed. You guys who speak of how religious and moral you are, are afraid you may have to spend a couple dollars to help your fellow man. (As worried as some or you are about paying taxes you must all be in the $250K income range anyway) Would you have a problem with that if it were TO HELP your grandmother or your father, how about an old friend? Tell ya what; I wouldn’t hesitate to help your mother (even if she did raise a dope). Don’t you think we can ALL get a better deal by cooperating with each other, FINANCIALLY and MORALLY?

BAHAHAHAHAHAH

AHHAHAHAHAHAH

HAHAH

OH WAIT....AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

that was a good one Chris. I've played sports my whole life man. And I don't mean golf or soccer. I was often the only white dude on the team. I live in southern California which means that I'm pretty much a minority when it comes to Mexicans, Blacks and Orientals. Every best friend I've had since I moved here 23 years ago has been mexican except one.

With that said, I can appreciate your point. I think what you said about most minorities sticking together (and I think it's true for white people too) is true. However, I think it's like that when it comes to the un educated, lower income circles. The higher the edjumication and the more money everyone makes I don't think it's like that. I could be wrong, it's happened before..once I think so I guess it could happen again. :D

I would also think that lower income minorities would realize that they've been voting for liberals forever and what has it gotten them? Nothing. They are in the same spot they were years and years ago. Instead of giving them a handout, I would much prefer giving them an opportunity to make something of themselves.

Nobody is entitled to anything but opportunity! Not even a level playing field. Nothing, just opportunity. This world is harsh and if low income people are going to sit around and wait for the gov't to give them a level playing field (like the whole quota thing) they are gonna be sitting for a long time. And that is exactly what has and is happening.

Sorry we're not as enlightened as you Kirk (Who has no signature by the way) but I think you are missing the point of our money being OUR MONEY. I will chose to help whoever the heck I want to help with MY MONEY. I would put my % of charitable donations up against yours any day dude since you think you're so much holier. By the way, I just almost went to the hospital for pneumonia because I was donating my time last weekend doing some construction work for a charity. I'm not trying to brag, I'm just saying that I give lots...and you don't know the first thing about me or any other person on this board making these posts so I would appreciate if the insults stopped.

Also, I'm no constitutional scholar, but the last time I checked I couldn't find anything about using my money to pay for somebody else's healthcare. And another thing that you guys aren't taking into consideration on this healthcare issue. Once you give something over to the govn't, you never get it back. They just keep giving away more and more and more. Do some research on Social Security if you don't believe me. It was never intended to become what it has become today.

MAYBE if they see a Black as President, it will serve as a Role Model for them, and get the chip off some shoulders ?

Great post!!!!

Greed is bred by deregulation. Its sad there could be a better health care with out a universal plan.

No use arguing, I remember when health care was affordable. I had a $7 an hour job at a place with 25 employees and we all had the same health plan and the company was very profitable and it still is

I remember when, it was before the right wing compassionate conservatives started growing. You are right Kirk, its the Morally superior right wing that rather screw they neighbor and us heathens of the left that want to just bring some change to help all

I give up on this thread its getting boring I just don't have the stomach to stay in the fight like I used to

I sure as hell hope, I pray Obama wins, I hope he is a true change candidate, whether he is or not he'll be better than 4 more years of republican rule

See you all I have had it

GREAT POST KIRK, greed and all they have to say is......................?

I never pegged you for a socialist, but the more I read your posts, the more it becomes clear. If something is broken (in your opinion) then get the government to fix it. The government is the answer. Wow. This entire thread has really surprised me...I thought some of you were really smarter than that. Wow.

Yup I'm moving to Russia in hopes they take everything over again and bring back the good ole Soviet Union

You right wingers really love that word socialist nowadays. LOL. Under you definition we have been a socialist country for ................ ever!!! But GW fixed that the last 8 years, never vetoed a spending bill in the 6 years it was a republican congress LOL

OK if something is broken like it is now the health care system, who will fix it or HELP fix it?. Our Government has been helping with regulations, laws and the such since 1776 hasnt it?

What is the health care industry going to fix itself , supply & demand, the market Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. The fox has been running the hen house to long under republican rule and the fox keeps getting fatter

The more & more I listen to the right, the more I feel comfortable with voting for anything but the right GO HUSSIEN OBAMA

Part of me agrees with how wrong entitlement is wrong as by nature it is always sucking off someone elses pocket.. But really I got to ask what about priority? Shouldn't humane priority have a say in what is more mportant for goobermint to fund through our wallet.

Order I would have it would be:

some minimum level of national heath care to all

national defense kept within reason

local public safety (police, fire, sewer, garbage)

infrastructure (roads, dams, power, etc.)

national offense

Kevin.... we live in the most compassionate country on the planet. We already have Medicare, Medicade, etc...I'm all for taking care of people that need a hand up. I have absolutely no problem with that. Universal health care for everybody is TOTALLY DIFFERENT. Making somebody else pay for the healthcare of someone that can/should take care of themselves is where I draw the line.

Bible says clearly 2 Thes 3:10 ".....if any would not work, neither should he eat"

An able bodied person has the responsiblity to take care of him/herself. If any are not abled, then WE SHOULD take care of them. It's our moral obligation. I'm not talking about people that NEED help. I'm talking about universal healthcare. Big difference.

Not much into using bible reference myself due to context usually having nothing to do with topic..I mean that passage has an "if" that means it to speak to lazy people that don't work for things. I would ask you do you really think people coming up working at fast food or retail can afford a medical plan?

If everything surrounding medical care wasn't so astronomically out of proportion compared to other fields of service then the meager begger could pay for a doctor visit out of his tin cup or ask Jesus to cure him..lol

Old days bartering for care was a way. Now all we got is high hopes and actions for every person in the world but our own.

That said it seems you ignore my point of priority being forsaken.

Making somebody else pay for the healthcare of someone that can/should take care of themselves is where I draw the line.

Change 'healthcare' to 'personal protection' or 'fire protection' or 'schooling' or anything and everything else of infrastructure, etc. the state or fed goobermints are supposedly responsable for providing to the people and all ya got is hand out from peoples wallets. What is better to make the people do on their own?. Guns work, hoses work, study books work..but scalpels and self prescribed meds? I say healthcare is number one because without health you can not grow or produce, etc. Maybe it a utopia type of view but what can I say.

You're kidding, right? You'd rather have national health care than national defense??

Right. The point is, charity belongs to the individual...It isn't the government's job to take from those who have and give to those who don't.
