I also feel the debates should go on as scheduled tonight. If McCain pulls out it is a BS stalling tactic. They can do a day's work in DC, hop a plane, and make the podium. No sweat. Pushing it off until the night of the VP debate as they had mentioned is just a tactic. No two debates should be on the same date.

I find a hard time voting for the next president that can not answer a question when asked. I am not referring to McCain, I am referring to Palin.

Then why are you referring to Palin as the next president?

I have yet to hear her answer a question when asked. Whether it be Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric (Sp?) or whom ever, she has not displayed the ability or knowledge to answer the questions asked.

The reciprocal of this would be why can't Barak Hussein Obama answer a single question Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh ask him!!!!!!!!

Does she know what the VP Job entails? I look forward to the Biden / Palen Debate.

Pelosi don't have a clue as to what being speaker of the house entails and nobody is bashing her. Oh! Wait. She is a dem so she gets a pass.....

I know man! Wright on! Yea like Rev. Wright. Does anyone know if she sat there for 20 years? If she did is it possible that she didn't know what that pastor was really saying? I heard Todd Palin was proud of this country...how sick is that? Watch out now....America's chickens are coming home to roooooost!

and frequent guest on NPR and PBS
find him completely honest, with no overarching ideology or political ax to grind

These two statement contradict each other.

Hmm, lets see. Someone who commentates on NPR and PBS cannot be honest, non-ideological, and not stidently political. That makes no sense.

David Brooks is not running for political office. He is a columnist. A historian, author, and very good writer.

I cant understand how as a business owner (which I think most of us are) would vote for a person who wants to raise taxes on small business owners as much as he can.

Did I state who I was going to vote for? You may be surprised. Actually, there is a slight chance I may surprise myself this year.

Dont believe I said a damn thing about you. But from what the majority of people on here post I can say again...............WHY do you want a person in office that WANTS to raise your taxes JUST because your a small business owner?

You people are whack.

Have fun.

Where else are they going to get the money to bail out the big companies that fail? I mean who better to finance their shortcomings than the little guy?

We lose either way, neither party cares about small business. If you a huge business one party will help, if you are unemployed and on the dole, the other party wants to help.

So who won or gained from the debate? I think CNN's panel of commentators was abit out of balance. Seemed McCain won by a long shot and knew what he was talking about and Obama was scrambling big time. And wth..did the dems pay cnn to have Biden on right after trying for an extra point when they didn't even score?

ps- oh and there it is..people are emailing them asking why they had biden and not palin. Time to tune to my regular channel I guess as that is the nature of it all.

On foreign affairs I think Obama held his own and dispelled so of the talk that he doesn't know enough, but I would have to say McCain won the debate, he attacked more and was able to turn the talk to what he wanted to talk about.

I still think it will just be another 4 years of Bush type policies and the fact is he wanted to go to Iraq and Obama didn't. I think that one thing shows better judgment than McCain

Obama did OK, McCain did better for sure

Oh and us liberals dont have to pay CNN, they are part of the liberal media that is always picking on those poor republicans

Jeff,

Hah, good rejoinder with the toad crack! Earlier in her life, yes, my sister was a serious, practicing witch or Wicca member. Of the White variety. Recently, she has become somewhat of a Bhuddist.

My sister is a bit strange.

I say McCain gave Obama the upperhand by admitting he was involved in so much of the overseas incidents over the years. This told me that he had a hand in the situations turning worse over there. Old practices have not worked, we need different ideas put into motion.

McCains experience has not proved to be worth anything more than supporting the legislation that has gotten us here to begin with. I don't want any more of that.

What kind of old practices you refer to?.. All the ones that McCain claims to be fighting and not apart of or the ones that Obama goes ahead and votes for cause he wanted to seem busy, or didn't know what the reprocussions were from his vote, or just wanted to be different by supporting a change. Change is not always for the better. Obama's hatchet/scalpal comment was hypocracy and all he did was play follow the leader last night. Way I see it McCain's experience and outlook represented plugging the tub, turning off the water, not throwing the baby out with the bathwater, and but using some baby shampoo so as to not burn the eyes. Where Obama's experience and actions represents him as hearing emergency broadcast system telling him to throw kid in cold tub with no water and wash them down with a wet one.Obama goes where the wind blows to try and earn a change buck.

The functional word you used which I will agree with here is "claims".

Change may not be for the better and the type of change that is proposed vs the type of change that is deceptive in light of past history is a debate amongst itself.

I see McCains experience as one of a POW who has adopted the submissive posture of a prisoner and voted along with his party lines to avoid creating waves. His methods are no longer useful in todays world and it is time for some fresh ideas and values. The war mentality is not doing us any good. With our country deeply in debt to other countries just to sustain this effort is killing our ability to take care of our country itself. We are now trying to bail out a market with money we don't have. THAT IS STUPID!

Sure, lets continue the faulty mortgage crisis with the inability to repay our creditors because we are trillions of dollars in debt.

In regard to Obama, too many have been drinking the republicans koolaid.

His head is in the right place. I think people are allowing their bias's to affect proper judgment, IMO.
