  1. Sodium hypoclorite that is half dead but still yellowish can be revived by addind TRI CLOR to the mix' date=' not calcium hypoclorite but TRI CLOR buy it at a pool supply. to really spike fresh SH add tri clor as well you will be amazed at the increase of strenght. Regards[/quote']

This is incorrect and potentially dangerous information. TriChlor is very acidic, and will lower the PH of Sodium Hypochlorite. This will increase the formation of what is called Hyperchlorus Acid in the SH. This Hyperchlorus Acid is a great DISINFECTANT, and that is why both Acid and TriChlor are added to swimming pools.

However, as roof cleaners, we are interested in the CLEANING power of Sodium Hypochlorite. The cleaning power of SH is increased at HIGH Ph, where the formation of the Hypochlorite Ion is more favorable.

DO NOT ADD TRICHLOR TO SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE BECAUSE DEADLY CHLORINE GAS CAN FORM AND KILL YOU

Great and important information. There are a lot of cleaners mixing chemicals incorrectly.

  2. This stuff is just stunning! It adds so much to the appeal of the house. It was just so bland before we sealed it with the Seal 'n Lock Super Wet. We also drained down the pool and sealed the stone coping and spillover spa.

  3. (From the eClean Magazine Blog page) A Virginia trial-court recently ordered Yelp to reveal the identity of seven anonymous reviewers complaining against Hadeed Carpe Cleaning in Washington. The carpet cleaning service then sued the reviewers for libel and defamation. The libel suit claimed that the seven anonymous complaints came from the seven defendants, who were actually Hadeed's competitors rather than real customers. Alexandria Circuit Court Judge James Clark determined that because Hadeed claimed the seven reviewers represented themselves under false pretenses, it met the standard of the state law that allowed for disclosure of their identity.

Yesterday, Yelp and Public Citizen Litigation Group filed an appeal, contending hat Judge Clark's ruling did not meet the Virginia statute hat requires the disclosure of anonymous names when their identity is central to claims against them. Public Citizen claims the Virginia isn't clearly defined. They also state that other states with more clearly defined laws have had rulings that disagree with Judge Clark's.

"Every other appellate court has held, whether under the First Amendment or under state procedures, that anonymous defendants are entitled to demand that the plaintiff make a factual showing, not just that the anonymous defendant has made critical statements, but also that the statements are actionable and that there is an evidentiary basis for the prima facie elements of the claim," the brief said.

Does anyone have experience with this coating? Seems like the spread rate is about 50-60 square feet a gallon - pretty weak.

Does it have a pot life?

  5. Having a clean concrete driveway and sidewalk can help make your property look its best. Aside from mildew just forming on your siding, it can also present itself on concrete and brick driveways. Oil stains, irrigation water stains from wells, mildew and even acorn stains take a specific process for effective removal. Sometimes it doesn’t get noticed until the rest of the house is professionally cleaned if your lucky or possibly until you or a guest nearly falls due it being so slippery at entryways during a rainfall. Cleaning concrete driveway stains requires a specific process in order to be effective.

Using a surface cleaner dialed in correctly to your specific pressure washer’s output in psi and gpm’s along with the use of hot water provides professional results that are evident by a consistent swirl and streak free clean over the entire surface. Note the name of the tool I recommend using for cleaning concrete. Surface cleaner. This tool effectively removes dirt from the surface of the driveway, providing the best possible results for a uniform appearance.

Sometimes, cleaning your driveway or sidewalk doesn’t just stop there. How do I clean concrete driveway stains that are leftover after the surface cleaner has done it’s work? Concrete is a very effective sponge. Oil spots, mildew, rust formation from water irrigation or battery acid stains, even acorn stains leftover from hot tires pressing them into the concrete spores can all leave a just cleaned surface looking as if it needs some more attention. And often times these specific stains are not quite so evident before using the surface cleaner as they are after. Each of those stains mentioned requires a different cleaning solution for effective removal without causing damage to the concrete itself. Plant life and other areas surrounding the concrete needs consideration as well. Application of the cleansers by an experienced pressure washing technician familiar with the effects on areas aside from the stain itself is important in order to avoid other costly damage. When this process is performed correctly though, the results can produce a safe and beautiful surface that is truly clean.

How do I clean concrete driveway stains? - is a copy of this blog I wrote with a couple of photos to help visualize this. Please have a look.

  6. I just posted my first video on youtube.

It was some badly stained aluminum wheels, not the regular road grime and axle grease and had to 2-step the wheels many times to get them clean.

I did not put music on the video and typed a lot for the description but felt it would help explain the process and the situation.

The aluminum wheels cleaned up nice on these trucks I washed here in Texas, it is a great fleet that is washed every 2 weeks and they get dirty fast on these South Texas Roads. Fleet washing is needed as these trucks get dirty fast and they are giving out more fines for trucks that are dirty and have lights and license plates covered with dirt.

Not sure how to embed the video here, would like to know but don't know how to do it. If someone can tell me how I will embed it.

    Hope you guys like it.

    Thanks.

Staining a deck is like selling stocks, and not just because they start with an “s”. Both of them require good timing. With bad timing, you could be better off throwing your money into a wishing well and hoping for a pretty deck. Most people also have the theory that staining is something that can be done year-round. Unfortunately, this is not the case. The most important thing you need to know about deck staining is that timing matters. Timing is key in terms of weather circumstances. Those of you in a hot southern state such as Florida are most likely warm year round. If you wanted to, you could stain year-round because your weather is more or less the same, as long as it isn’t raining. For the rest of us, don’t choose the best weather for outdoor activities because it is likely not the best choice of weather conditions.

What is the best time to stain a deck? Staining is really best done in the fall season because the weather is perfect for most places. If your weather is inconsistent with what we consider “fall time”, then pick the time of the year that more suits your area’s fall. For example, living in a snowy mountainous region wouldn’t be suitable for a deck staining in the Fall because it’s probably going to continue snowing significantly more now than if you did it in the summer time. Actually, if you live in a snowy mountain, it would be better to get a screened in porch than a deck…at the very least get a roof for your deck. For the rest of us, spring and summer time is the worst time to do this. Spring time is supposed to be when the rain comes through and the flowers bloom. The only piece we care about is the rain (not to be anti-flowers here). Rain means moisture, and moisture means a ruined deck. Even without the rain, the humidity alone has the potential to ruin your stain. Woods soak in a lot of moistures, making this an unruly time for treating a deck.

I know what you’re thinking: “but it’s so cold the rest of the year!” I feel your pain, but as it turns out, September is not too cold for us, but just dry enough to stain your deck properly. Really any time between August and October is an ideal time for staining your deck. If you know it’s going to rain this weekend, wait until a dry weekend rolls through (or the driest time for those that can’t escape the wrath of Mother Nature). Depending on your location, the time of year may change slightly. Not to sound like the fine print of a commercial, but for best results choose the driest time of year for your area.

Now that you’ve decided when to stain a deck, you want to know how long for stain to dry. You’re in luck! It’s about a day or two, depending on your weather. After the stain/sealant has dried, it’s time to enjoy your new gray deck! Wait, why is my deck gray? To prevent graying (which comes from the Sun shining on a deck without UV protection), use a sealant that has color and UV protection. Without UV protection you will notice graying within 3 months of sealing. Finally, when is it time to re-stain? Unfortunately stain doesn’t last a lifetime. You can expect to re-stain your deck every couple of years. There are a lot of things to know when it comes to deck cleaning, staining, and sealing. For this reason, you could save yourself the hassle of Googling the whole weekend. We both know what really happens when you plan on doing home improvement: you look forward to it, prepare for it, and then realize you don’t know how to do it. It is highly recommended, as with all home improvements, to consult or hire a professional. In this case, a local deck repair, deck sealing, or deck staining company would know about what, when, and how to seal a deck. After all, they live in the area and probably have a bit more experience in the field.

  7. Using pressure to remove unsightly surface stains, mold, and mildew from your siding or roof is a thing of the past. Today with the advanced technology of cleaning equipment and cleaners, pressure is no longer required. Quality detergents have been formulated to a perfect ratio that gives them the capability to take the place of pressure. These detergents are not harmful to your plants or animals. We call this method a soft washing method. All that is required is for us to apply the detergent, allow it to dwell then come back and rinse it off. We use very little pressure (a little more than what comes out of your water hose). Pressure to siding can cause water to be shoved behind the siding and remain standing. This will cause mold and mildew to accumulate and you are left with a bigger problem than you had in the first place. The use of pressure can also completely damage your siding and once again you have a bigger bill than you bargained for. The same thing can happen with roofs. Water gets under the shingles and is left hiding in the warm wet darkness which is a perfect atmosphere for bacteria to grow. Your shingles can also be completely torn away from your roof because normally shingles are not made to handle so much pressure.Soft washing is the way to go when it comes to your home. There is no risk involved and you will be left 100% satisfied when you see the results of your home. Professional Pressure Washing in Louisville KY provided by Simply Glass Exterior Solutions

  9. Here it goes, I can tell you, that I have worked in the "Kitchen Exhaust" cleaning business since I was a teenager, starting with my uncle's company which was started in 1966, so needless to say I have been around, I have done every job there is in cleaning from the floor to the roof, was always looking for ways to make it easier, how I hated them old days with steel wool, rags, chemical and don't forget the Sheila shine, as my uncle would tell me, that is the most important part of the job.

So needles to say, I was so happy when I came up with the idea in 1987 to start using a pressure washer, it was hard to convince my uncle to change, as he was set in his ways, but convinced him, that was the way to go, also to had to persuade our customers whew them where the days.

As it is the norm today to use pressure washers, so which way to go, which one to use, I always thought the bigger the better, and wanted to impress our customers, we were sophisticated, but it doesn't mean a thing, if you don't do the job right, in some cases, you will need a hot powered pressure washer, but the majority of the time, you will be able to use the electric pressure washer, I am talking about a custom made one, which will cost you about 1,500.00 to 1,800.00, capable of 2,500 PSI, and can run 200 degree water thru it.

Much easier to carry and move, think of the space you will save, and the gas on top of that, just so many benefits to using a electric pressure washer, I could list them all, but if you are in the business, you will understand me.

But once again I will reiterate, no matter if you do by hand or pressure washer, you must do the job right to the best of your ability, no short cuts.

We Always hand scrub the outside of the gutters and downspouts during a house wash. We perform a lot of gutter cleaning in the early spring and fall' date=' and never scrub the inside. We remove by hand the debris and clear out blockages. When possible, we also hydro-test downspouts. A penny test or a rock test is effective as well if the customer's garden hose isn't long enough to hydro-test.

In today's ever changing business world. Businesses need to adapt, improvise and educate or they will be left in the dust. Is customer service a necessity for stability or can it be drowned out by low prices that undercut the competition?

Recently, I started doing business with a well known pressure washing website retailer. The retailer is envirospec which is operated by John Allison. While shopping for my expanding pressure washing business I noticed that envirospec had great prices when compared to its competitors. I did some superficial checking on the web to see if they were reputable and found nothing that jumped out to me, negatively speaking. So, I thought I would give them a shot. In my first order I ordered a hot water pressure washer and other accessories that totaled, all together, about $5000. The pressure washer and accessories ordered arrived in a timely manner, but from there onward customer service from envirospec and John Allison was extremely negative.

To start with - the pressure washer would consistantly shut down after a few hours of operation and trying to get a hold of someone to help at envirospec was like pulling teeth. I would call and call, and would either get no answer or if I did get a human being they would take my phone number down and tell me someone would get back to me in the next day or two. But guess what? No phone calls. So I would call again. This repeated itself over and over.

The same thing occurred when I asked for paperwork, or parts list, for the pressure washer, so I could maintain it and order parts. I received a Kohler manual for the motor and that was it. No other paperwork was given on the pump, gear reducer or water heater - nothing. So, I tried getting that information. Same thing - "I will have someone get back to you by tomorrow," the lady on the phone would tell me. Guess what? Never a phone call.

By this point, as a business owner, I am frustrated and angry. So, I figure I am going to take this issue to the president of envirospec, John Allison, and get things handled. But guess what? He sends me an email saying that all pressure washers sold today "don't come with paper work" and that I am incompetent at maintaining a pressure washer and he recommends that I have my pressure washer serviced by a professional - instead of me. So hold on, I have three other pressure washers, purchased locally, that came with complete manuals. Paperwork on the motor, pump, gear reducer, water heater, maintenance schedule and so, that I do all of the work on, and John tells me that I can't do the work and pressure washers don't come with a parts list or manual. I could not believe how rude his email was to me - I was shocked. Needless to say, I will never be doing business with envirospec again.

With good reason, I am really angry now, but you know what? There is not a thing I can do about it.... but tell anyone that reads this blog so that they don't have to go through the same thing that I went through at envirospec.

How does a website retailer stay in business for so long with poor customer service? I guess cut throat pricing can work in today's society. After all, if a business keeps selling and offers horrible customer service, pricing must be the driving force???

I work in a paper mill. The fastest way to cut down a roll of 3,000lb roll of reject paper is using the power washer. I've had two accidents both lacerations on the hands. We have rules but is there any other safety trules you professionals can add. Thanks.
