John T got a reaction from cleanhoods in Can a good bb be as influential as an org to contractors?
The org's do get RFP's and companies/people sometimes go thru the org's to look for a contractor for a specific job. That's how I got the trex decks to be serviced after they lost that class action lawsuit. Trex came to the PWNA where I made aprox $15,000 in a week and some other PWNA members made as much as a $100,000 in just a couple of months.
But from my perspective a solid bb like TGS over the years was probably more influential to the masses then an org was on a consistent bases.
Heck look today-- there are some leaders selling on the bb's to saturate cedar shakes with bleach and pretty much do nothing else to the wood so now you see numerous newbies doing just that cause they were influenced to do so from the bb's.(this is what I call a negative mass influence that can happened on a bb's as well)

In my opinion private or public bbc or org all is benificial info to the one that seeks it. Some are big headed then others but benifit those that seek it. At the same time it's a great place to dump some info as well for the future to succeed.

One day I'd love to see a PWNA Convention and CETA Convention back to back or even together in the same hotel..... Hmmmm
One of the best Conventions I ever attended was the Dallas PWNA/IWCA convention in 04 that had over 700 people attend including Beth/Rod from here. In size that one was awesome.
I did hear the PWNA Convention this year was very well received as was the PWRA convention. I personally love a large audience and want to see the PWNA and PWRA hit those magical numbers(1000's) but still are as rock solid as some of the smaller attended Conventions I've been to in the past.
2014 is going to be an exciting time for this Industry and I'm looking forward to it:)

John T got a reaction from Bc window in - Hydro Tek SC 35006vg set up bypass help!?
Take a close look at your unloader. See if it has a bypass part to it. It may be closed off. If it is take out that block screw and screw in a hose barb then put a hose on that to a holding tank. This way when you depress your gun the unloader will switch to allow water to go into your holding tank. From the tank the water goes back into the pump.
In essence what your now doing with the unloader in bypass the water just keeps circulating through your pump then to unloader then to tank and back to pump over and over again so pump will not overheat. This stops when you squeeze gun where now water goes out of your wand and the pump as in bypass keeps circulating water so it never heats up to cause damage.
    That should do it:)

Excellent Video by the Michael Mole & Jersey Josh.
I just got done watching the whole thing and I'm looking forward to their next episode. This Industry needed an Industry type show and theirs fills the slot nicely.
As for Kevin Dubrosky I have his 600hr book which is excellent. I've seen him speak in NOLA and he sure knows what he's talking about and in this case writing about. That new book of his "The Whale Vomit Method" is one wicked title for a book but since it already was a listed best seller just goes to show ya Kevin Knows what he's talking about.
    Nice job.

If I am not there participating, they can't use my name and say I was. It's that simple. And really, who really cares about it? It's a pressure washing org, and in my opinion not a good one. There are so many better ways to promote and grow a business. I do not regret one bit not renewing, and until the current President is gone I will not consider joining. It is JUST...THAT...SIMPLE.

I probably won't go unless my friends are going, then I might swing up to say hi but not to attend.

I love Lou Reed and thats the reason i bought tickets to see him i think in the 70's? Absolute worst concert ever but it was fun throwing bottles at the stage . He had  100 tv's with static in the back ground  and came out playing the sax's ( brutally terrible). I saw him earlier and he  was great . Was at CBGB's  many times  ............................

We stained a house here a couple of years ago right before Thanksgiving. The home owner was happy as heck we got it done in time for his relatives who came out to his house for the holiday. My family was happy as heck because we had a nice winter vacation because of it....
It was a win win. Risky of course but that's business. That house still looks good today.

Lol.. That is the drawback to doing good deeds. The "human greed" factor can kick in. They see you doing a good deed and now they want you to do it for there organization as well(draining). I noticed this years ago when we have donated money for some charities. Alot of them come back every year asking for more. My attitude with that was to just ignore them and to donate when we can. Because of these over aggressive sales people once again who look to get you to give, give and give some more that's the greed factor. They work on your guilt as well. Personally I just block them out and give when I can.
Also over the years I looked into certain groups to see what % of your donation actually goes to the ones in need. The surprising factor is some are less then 5% of your donation goes to where you intended it to go. The other 95% goes to the "fat cats" wallets such as paying the chair millions and his BODs hundreds of thousands. When we find that out we no longer if ever donate to those groups.
Charity is complex. In our Vegas event because I know a couple of people who are directly involved with certain charities we were able to get our donation thru 100% which is rare.

Yes that would make for a good article. It's in the heart that counts. It's great that there are awards for contractors of the year, vendors of the year along with many other industry type awards. People win contest/prizes all the time. That's all good.
Personally I like charity stories better then how people cleaned something which I enjoy as well. If contractors can get recognized for doing good deeds that's great. Many contractors like to stay quite in the charities there involved in and I completely respect that. Who wouldn't?
If people are motivated to do charity work because they have a shot to be recognized or get some great publicity as well once again the ones who win here regardless are the ones who are on the receiving end of these contractors/vendors good deeds.
The goal should always be to help someone or something out one way or another and to not pass judgement on what was the motivating factor of the ones who did the charity/volunteer work to begin with IMO.

Ideally, people will just give back out of the goodness of their hearts. And if the press picks it up, all the better. But, I guess even if you're only doing the good thing for the free publicity, at least something good is being done for someone else -- which is better than nothing being done at all.

I have done work at a reduced rate for the Salvation Army, a women's shelter, and a Food Bank.  Neither group cares who you are or what you do.  Their only concern is if you need help. But if I am told that I  owe a freebie, if they tell me I can take a tax deduction, if they pull the guilt trip, we are done.  The other thing, is I do not help for free advertising or other b/s.  I help because I like the org or their goals.

My company has been very fortunate to have had a couple of past cover stories in both eClean magazine http://www.ecleanmag.com/ and The Cleaner Times http://www.cleanertimes.com/. I have the utmost respect for these Industry type magazines who go out of their way to promote us and sometimes tell our stories.

I feel blessed to have been able to do 2 volunteer jobs which these magazines thought were news worthy. The first one was the PWNA "Clean Across America job" that consisted of many cleanings across the country such as a Ronald McDonald house and people in need houses that were cleaned. These were done by many different contractors. In my case along with 12 other contractors we decided to give back to our "American" pastime which is baseball. That's how I ended up on the cover Cleaning the roof of the baseball hall of fame stadium http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doubleday_Field

The other story that's close to my heart is the Babe Ruth Cleaning that was put on the Cover of eCleans magazine. I am so indebted to Allison Hester who understood the passion I felt. This story is far from over and I hope one day to have Allison Hester finish this story. You just never know when your time comes and these Industry type magazines want you to tell your story so others can benefit from them.

Embrace your Industry magazines because they do embrace us.

I just got done reading in the Cleaner Times Magazine Beth's "Marketing Your Service Business Chapter four: Building your Company's Service Bundles". Besides getting me hungry when she explains how Manufacturers bundle Potato Chips which she correlates that right into how we can bundle our company services into multiple packages--- makes me think back in time with her.
Beth is probably going to cringe when I say this because I said it numerous times in the past... She should have been an Industry org president. She could have easily done it and many of us could have benefited from it. This Girl is smart and she knows this Industry and Beth is a leader!!
I am probably a pain now for Beth because I am always on the ground floor duking it out with someone to help benefit others But a star always shines and once again Beth shines. Great article!!
