allisonhester got a reaction from Beth n Rod in Cell phone text harrasment getting legal attention nationwide
Thanks for posting this Beth. While many industry members are aware of claims of a certain industry "leader" sending barrages of harrassing texts to people -- myself included -- until you're on the receiving end you don't understand the depth of the harassment. I let me my kids use my phone to watch YouTube (since our internet is limited but my phone is not). One day my son tried to watch a 5 minute video, but got interrupted SIXTEEN times by a batch of incoherent harassing texts accusing me of a bunch of lies --- all within 5 minutes. And I know from the DOZENS of people who've reached out to me, I'm not the only one who deals with this type of harassment. It's truly unprofessional, unethical, and now it sounds like it's also illegal. It truly saddens me that an elected industry leader who is supposed to be held to a written code of ethics is allowed to behave this way with zero consequences.

allisonhester reacted to newlook in Armstrong-Clark Wood Stain Plant Visit
This past Monday I had a chance to carve out some time in our busy schedule to meet up with Jake Clark at their wood stain plant located in Sonora, CA.  Though I do not do any type of wood restoration or staining, I have known Jake for many years and he is also considered a dear friend of our family. I was in central Cali. washing and decided to take a detour and head up to the foothills of the Sierra's to check out the new plant.  Boy am I glad I did.

The processing plant is just awesome. The production line employees all the way up to the folks manning the phones are "top-notch" individuals.  Each one of them explained to me their role in the production process of how Armstrong-Clark's stains are made and the critical steps each one of them does in order to ensure that each batch of stain is blended to perfection.  I just didn't realize all the different "checks and balances" that Jake implemented in the production of his stains to ensure that when a contractor opens up a pail of Armstrong-Clark stain they are getting the "best of the best".

The plant itself is very clean and from what I could tell everything about the "guts" of the plant is well kept and operational. The computerized mechanism's that ensure the proper amount of liquids to be blended together was fascinating to see and watch compared to observing someone that is "eye balling" ratios for blending.

Jake, you have a great operation going on in Sonora. The people that work for you complete your stain line and it was truly gratifying to see these individuals actually enjoying what they do. I can only surmise that you created a culture with your employees that empowers them to be part of the overall picture of what Armstrong-Clark is all about.  Very encouraging to see young people actually enjoying their job.  Hat's off to you my friend.

I tried to attached some pics of the plant but for some reasons I keep on getting a Error This upload failed.?

Thank you Jake for taking the time to show me the plant.  I appreciate it.

Static electricity is more common on cold, clear days.  Possible factor?

I think the cause is most likely the explosive language used because the code-compliant fuel cans leak fuel all over the equipment.

allisonhester got a reaction from Alexy in Veterans Day Specials: Please Share with Your Military Friends and Family
Several restaurants and retail outlets have special offers for military personnel (active and retired) on Monday, Nov. 11, for Veterans Day. Our family took advantage of a couple of deals last year and got a free lunch AND dinner at restaurants we don't get to eat at all that often.

I've put this year's list on our website. If you are active or retired military, take advantage of these! Or pass them along to your military friends and family.

An important note: I would suggest contacting the establishment beforehand to find out if that location is participating in the promotion, and also to find out if there are any restrictions.

    Enjoy!

Ideally, people will just give back out of the goodness of their hearts. And if the press picks it up, all the better. But, I guess even if you're only doing the good thing for the free publicity, at least something good is being done for someone else -- which is better than nothing being done at all.

However, it's also important to realize that just because you're doing something for the publicity does not mean you're going to get the publicity. Smart business owners and association representatives make friends with their local or industry media rather than enemies.
